The Backrooms is "obviously" a metaphor for the existential struggle everyone goes through when they enter a room and forget why they entered, how they entered and how many chairs they fused into their infinite hallway!
@mauthe_doog True. We like to draw from some of that psychology but take a lot of inspiration from the Lovecraft type of cult or what Fear and Hunger pull from. Each cult is influenced by a cosmic force that shapes and inspires mortals across the galaxy, for good or ill.
@mauthe_doog Fixing problems or building things from scratch is the most practical way of learning. Theory only is mental inbreeding and a path to thinking yourself stupid.
@mauthe_doog On the topic of "ascension", what kind of cult story do you like most?
I'm making a game about cults in space and have been thinking a lot about the different types of theology, ideologies and so on that make a cult.
One is a cult that flays themselves to reveal inner beauty.
@mauthe_doog Isn't that the usual issue? Being a creative who can't understand their audience won't understand why their work isn't appealing to others.
Not being able to comprehend another person's work might show signs of mental deficiency.
Who knows?
@mauthe_doog Madoka is a pretty cool concept for a Mahou Shoujo setting and of course Berserk is brutal and intense but the way it is told makes it more than gore-porn like some other settings.
How many of these anti-anime goobs brag about all the children shows they watch, I wonder?

@mauthe_doog I like to draw the characters the way I imagine them. Maybe I'll take inspiration from fan feedback but I'm not rewritting my whole story for a shallow character trait.
Decided to balance the multi-projectile reflect by having parries damage your weapon's durability. It won't break until the animation finishes though, so you can reflect any number of bullets at once
