Ελληνας διπλωμάτης τοποθετείται επικεφαλής της αντιπροσωπείας της Ε.Ε. στη Λιβύη, καθώς η θητεία του σημερινού, Ιταλού πρέσβη Νίκολα Ορλάντο, λήγει. Τη θέση του επικεφαλής της αντιπροσωπείας της Ε.Ε. στη Λιβύη (συγκεκριμένα στην Τρίπολη) αναλαμβάνει ο Αλέξης Κωνσταντόπουλος (φωτογραφία), ο οποίος έχει διατελέσει πρέσβης της Ελλάδας στη Σαουδική Αραβία, στο Ομάν και στην Υεμένη. Τα τελευταία χρόνια είναι ο ειδικός εκπρόσωπος της Ελλάδας στον IMEC (Οικονομικός Διάδρομος Ινδίας, Μέσης Ανατολής και Ευρώπης) και έχει συσσωρεύσει αρκετή εμπειρία σχετικά με όλες αυτές τις περιοχές που βρίσκονται στην –εκτός Ευρώπης– ευρύτερη γειτονιά της χώρας και αποτελεί στην πραγματικότητα ζωτικής σημασίας πεδίο δραστηριοποίησης για την ελληνική διπλωματία. Η Αθήνα «κυνήγησε» αυτό το πόστο και τις επόμενες ημέρες αναμένονται και οι σχετικές ανακοινώσεις. Υπενθυμίζεται ότι μόλις πριν από λίγες ημέρες η υφυπουργός Εξωτερικών Αλεξάνδρα Παπαδοπούλου βρέθηκε στην Τρίπολη της Λιβύης, φυσικά με διμερές «καπέλο», με στόχο να κρατήσει ενεργές τις συζητήσεις Ελλάδας και κυβέρνησης εθνικής ενότητας για την –πολύ μελλοντική– πιθανότητα οριοθέτησης ΑΟΖ ανάμεσα στις δύο χώρες.

Στην τελετή αναγόρευσής μου ως Επίτιμου Διδάκτορα του ΕΜΠ, πολύ τιμητικά τα όμορφα λόγια που μου επιφύλαξαν οι καλοί συνάδελφοι.
Στη Σχολή των Αγρονόμων Τοπογράφων Μηχανικών-Μηχανικών Γεωπληροφορικής εισήλθα έφηβος, γεμάτος όνειρα. Εκεί έμαθα τα γράμματα του μηχανικού, που προσπάθησα να μετουσιώσω σε πολιτική πράξη για όφελος της κοινωνίας και της πατρίδας.

Η σημερινή τιμή ωστόσο, είναι και μια υπενθύμιση της ευθύνης για το μέλλον.

Όπως τόνισα στην ομιλία μου, η Ελλάδα χρειάζεται ένα φιλόδοξο, προοδευτικό σχέδιο για την επόμενη δεκαετία. Το σχέδιο αυτό θα πρέπει να τοποθετήσει την Ελλάδα ως κόμβο όχι μόνο διαμετακόμισης, αλλά και παραγωγής ενέργειας.

Η χώρα πρέπει να πραγματοποιήσει μια ιστορική στροφή και να μετατραπεί σε μια χώρα που παράγει, κατασκευάζει και αναπτύσσει αγαθά και υπηρεσίες «Made in Greece», για την πράσινη και ψηφιακή μετάβαση, καθώς και για τις αμυντικές της δυνατότητες.
