listening to Max Brand's "Destry Rides Again" (1930) and boy oh boy what a story. there are three filmed versions of this (none of which I've seen) but I can't imagine any of them really nail down the tone of the novel.
my bluray box finally arrived so I'm digging back into Miami Vice - Sonny Crockett is a much deeper and more nuanced guy than I understood as a kid. Don Johnson is a ridiculously talented actor who just happened to score big with a hit series.
I know I've said it before but Sean Burns is probably my favorite film writer working today.
