Three commodity vessels crossed the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday, down from four the previous day and below the 10-day average of around 15, preliminary shipping data showed on Wednesday.

The figures could change as some vessels typically switch off their transponders while transiting the waterway.

Kpler data showed that all three vessels, including one Panamax tanker, were exiting the strait as of 02:00 GMT.

Meanwhile, the ballast LNG tanker Al-Mafyar reappeared inside the strait on Tuesday after last being recorded outside the waterway on 19 September, according to Kpler and LSEG data.

Separately, 22 commodity vessels passed through the Bab al-Mandab Strait on Tuesday, another key maritime chokepoint off southwestern Yemen and a major route for oil shipments between the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.

The data showed 14 vessels heading toward the Red Sea and eight toward the Gulf of Aden. They included five Panama tankers, six Supramax vessels, four Aframax tankers, one Suezmax tanker and one very large crude carrier.

Tuesday's traffic was below the strait's 10-day average of around 26 vessels.

Airports in Baghdad and Muscat will stop receiving flights from Iran starting at midnight local time, Tasnim news agency reported on Tuesday, citing a spokesperson for Iran's Civil Aviation Organization.

Iranian aviation authorities are working with their foreign counterparts to reroute flights destined for Baghdad to Iraq's Najaf airport, the spokesperson said.

Other international flights from Iran, including services to Istanbul, will continue as scheduled with no disruptions currently reported, according to the spokesperson.

The move comes as Iranian airlines face increasing restrictions overseas amid new US sanctions. Under measures taking effect on Wednesday, foreign companies providing services such as refueling and ground handling to Iranian airlines could lose access to the US financial system.

In hindsight It seems like the attacks on Yanbu and the East-West pipeline may have been actually bullish for tankers.

It obviously helped suezmaxes and European buyers sources more cargoes in the Atlantic & Med.

But for VLCCs it seems like many of these barrels are now just moving east adding even more demand in the AG. And this just added more fuel to the already explosive rates coming out of the AG and Gulf of Oman.

Certainly an interesting play out of events and I guess we’ll see if this kind of volume through the Strait will continue or whether Iran will ramp up the attacks…
