BREAKING: The Federal Reserve has raised interest rates by 25 basis points to 3.75-4.00%, the first hike since 2023, on a unanimous 12-0 vote, saying inflation "remains elevated" and that uncertainty is elevated "owing, in part, to geopolitical developments." US diesel is at a record $6.23 and the diesel crack at an all-time high.

The dot plot shows one more hike this year, with the 2026 median raised to 4.1% from 3.8% in June, and rates held above 4% through 2027, up from 3.6%. The Fed lifted its 2026 inflation projection to 3.7% and cut its unemployment forecast to 4.1%. The ECB raised for the second time this year last Thursday. The Fed is now hiking into an oil shock it did not cause and cannot end.

BREAKING: Iran is preparing to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty — holding 440kg of 60% enriched uranium, enough for 10 warheads — as MPs formally submit the proposal to parliament today in response to Trump's economic war, per Iranian MPs.

"You cannot attack a nation's sovereignty, assassinate its leaders, bomb its infrastructure, and then expect it to remain bound by treaties you have already violated," MP Ravanbakhsh said. "There is no reason for Iran to remain in the NPT."

A second MP, Akhlaqi-Amiri, formally requested Iran's NPT exit and defense doctrine revision, citing the US "savage attack on Iran," the killing of the Supreme Leader and commanders/citizens, and repeated US violations of commitments.

"The best response to Trump's escalation of the economic war is to withdraw from the NPT," said Ebrahim Rezaei, a member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission.

Iran holds approximately 440kg of uranium enriched to 60%, enough for roughly 10 warheads. Withdrawal from the NPT would remove international oversight and signal a fundamental shift in Tehran's nuclear posture.
