Sheffield resident was fined £300 after bin bags found dumped on country lane in Derbyshire. North East Derbyshire District Council tracked down the resident after council workers dug through the discarded bin bags for evidence, and were able to link the waste to the property.
500+ reported incidents of fly-tipping in 2023 in Teignbridge alone, an additional 312 in 2024. Teignbridge Council has a sliding scale of fines, depending on how serious the tipping is. Their recycling incentive means less in landfill, putting council in top 12% of country.

Inverclyde Council received 300 dog fouling complaints last year, issuing total of 12 fines. 500 reports of fly-tipping, issuing 54 fixed penalty notices for illegal dumping, up from 31 the previous year. Council brought in £4,900 from fly-tipping & £400 from dog fouling fines.
Inverclyde Council urges culprits to stop fly-tipping as “ignorance is no excuse”. They have reminded those responsible that they now have the power to hand out £500 fines after the penalty imposed was increased from £200 by the Scottish Government earlier this year.
