There are safer ways to give your cats outdoor enrichment, such as building a catio where your furry friend can be safely contained but still enjoy some fresh air.
If you find an animal that you suspect was victim to a cat attack, call your local wildlife rehabber right away!

Miracle bird alert!
We received a bluebird in mid-December that had been caught mid-air by a cat, resulting in one of the bird’s legs being broken and pulled out of place.

This story has a happy ending, but the majority of these cases do not. Friendly reminder to PLEASE keep your cats indoors; they are natural predators and even with supervision, we see endless cases where cats end up harming our native wildlife.

Update on our #BlueBirds. The one on the right has a boot to #heal a broken ankle, we hope they can make a full #recovery and be #released.

Here is a picture of a #FishCrow we got in. Fish Crows are usually seen in #DC by the water (hence the name) and they make a honking noise rather than the caw heard by #AmericanCrows. These crows learn to #cache (hide) food in the bottom right corner of the photo.

Here is a #Grackle that we have had in for a little while that is now out of its boot! This Grackle had curled toes syndrome, which is common in baby birds. His boot helped straighten out his toes. Now he can perch with no problem. #healthy #healing
