High-Level Meeting Reviews Preparations for Independence Day Celebrations-2026 in Jammu

A high-level meeting chaired by Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar and IGP Jammu Zone Bhim Sen Tuti reviewed preparations for Independence Day celebrations-2026. Officials discussed security arrangements, traffic management, parade, cultural programmes, and public facilities.

Divisional Commissioner Jammu, @Rameshkumarias today reviewed the status of damages caused by recent rains in all districts of Jammu division and took stock of ongoing restoration and relief works.

The Div Com sought a comprehensive district-wise assessment of damage to roads and other public infrastructure, along with a status report on ex-gratia relief distribution, from all Deputy Commissioners.

Div Com directed that the water level of rivers, streams and nallahs across the division be kept under constant watch, and that people be alerted well in time in case of any eventuality.

The Div Com assured that the administration is fully geared up to deal with any emergency arising out of the prevailing weather conditions and appealed to the public to cooperate with the district administrations and follow advisories issued from time to time.

Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar today launched the Jammu division leg of "Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat", a nationwide campaign of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports under MY Bharat.

He said a drug-free society is a shared responsibility and lauded MY Bharat for engaging youth in the fight against substance abuse.

Div Com urged young people to register on the MY Bharat portal and actively participate in district-level campaign activities.

Divisional Commissioner Jammu @Rameshkumarias today launched the "Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat" campaign.

The campaign being organized under MY Bharat platform of Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, aims to mobilize youth against substance abuse through awareness, creative expression and community participation.

As part of the campaign, a series of competitive events including debates, declamation, painting, slogan writing, quiz, folk song, folk dance and reel-making competitions will be organized across the districts of the Union Territory.

Divisional Commissioner Jammu, @Rameshkumarias and @igp_jammu Bhim Sen Tuti today inaugurated a mega plantation event under the aegis of the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign within the ramparts of the Mahamaya Forests at Jammu.

The drive was organised by Chief Conservator of Forests, Jammu, at the under-construction Wellness Park in the Mahamaya Forest Area.

Divisional Commissioner Jammu @Rameshkumarias, and @igp_jammu Bhim Sen Tuti, on Tuesday visited Poonch and reviewed the arrangements for the upcoming annual Shri Budha Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026.

The Divisional Commissioner directed all concerned departments to ensure all necessary facilities are put in place well in advance to provide a safe, secure and comfortable pilgrimage experience to the yatris.

The Div Com and IGP Jammu also had an interaction with civil society members and religious heads to discuss issues and suggestions for the smooth conduct of the Yatra.

It was informed that the first batch of yatris is scheduled to be flagged off from Jammu on August 16, 2026, while the Chhari Yatra will be held on August 26, 2026.

A two-minute silence was also observed during the meeting in memory of those who lost their precious lives in the recent flash floods.

Div Com and IGP Jammu appealed to all for adhering to the public advisories and weather forecast advisories during the next couple of days which might receive continuous rain in the region.

Divisional Commissioner Jammu, @Rameshkumarias and @igp_jammu Bhim Sen Tuti, today visited the flash-flood affected areas of Poonch district to assess the situation and review the ongoing restoration works.

During the visit, the Divisional Commissioner and IGP Jammu visited Sangla village in Tehsil Surankote, where they met the families who lost their family members in the recent flash floods and expressed heartfelt condolences.

They assured all support and assistance from the administration to the affected families.

Div Com and IGP Jammu took stock of Jammu the situation and assessed the ongoing restoration works in the affected areas. Directions were issued the concerned officers to expedite restoration works and ensure early restoration of essential services and infrastructure.

Divisional Commissioner asked the concerned officers for providing timely assistance and necessary support to all the affected families and directed the concerned departments to take all required measures for the safety and well-being of the affected population.

Divisional Commissioner Jammu @Rameshkumarias and @igp_jammu Bhim Sen Tutti, today visited the flood-affected area of Bella in Rajouri district to assess the ground situation following the recent flash floods.

They interacted with the officers and field functionaries deployed on the spot and directed them to expedite restoration works, including clearance of damaged road stretches and restoration of essential services, so that normalcy is restored at the earliest.

Div Com and IGP Jammu also visited the Relief and Rehabilitation Centre established at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Rajouri, to review the arrangements made for the affected families.

Talking to the affected families, the Divisional Commissioner assured them that the Government stands firmly with them in this difficult time. He reiterated that every possible assistance and support would be extended to ensure their safety, comfort and well-being until the situation returns to normal, while directing all concerned departments to remain responsive and provide the best possible services.

The Div Com and the IGP Jammu also chaired a comprehensive review meeting and took a detailed overview of the response measures undertaken by different departments and emphasized the need for close coordination to ensure timely relief, restoration of essential services and effective disaster management.

The Deputy Commissioner and the Senior Superintendent of Police were directed to identify vulnerable and flood-prone hotspots from where residents can be shifted to safer locations during emergencies to prevent any loss.

⚠️ Owing to the adverse weather forecast issued by IMD, Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra has been temporarily suspended on both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes with effect from July 19, 2026, in the interest of the safety and well-being of all Yatris.

🚫 No onward movement of Yatris will be permitted from the Baltal and Nunwan/Chandanwari base camps until further notice.

📢 The Yatra will resume only after weather conditions improve and the routes are declared safe. Further updates will be shared through official channels.

In view of the weather forecast of heavy rains, issued by India Meteorological Department (IMD) and inclement weather in Ransoo, the pilgrimage to Shri Shiv Khori has temporarily been suspended. The pilgrims are advised accordingly. The Shrine Board is continuously monitoring the situation and devotees are urged to check the latest updates before planning their travel.

No Yatra Movement from Jammu on July 19 Due to Inclement Weather Forecast

JAMMU, JULY 18: In view of the inclement weather forecast along the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra route, it is hereby informed that no convoy, vehicle carrying Shri Amarnath ji yatra pilgrims will be allowed to proceed from Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu, towards the base camps of Baltal and Nunwan (Pahalgam) on July 19, 2026.

The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of the pilgrims in view of the adverse weather conditions predicted along the Yatra route.

Adverse Weather Forecast: Shri Amarnathji Yatra to remain suspended from July 19, 2026
SRINAGAR, JULY 18: In view of inclement weather forecast issued by India Meteorological Department (IMD), Shri AmarnathjiYatra shall remain temporarily suspended fromboth the Pahalgam and Baltal routeswith effect from 19.07.2026 as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of the pilgrims.
"In view of the forecast of inclement weather over the next few days and considering the safety and well-being of the pilgrims, Shri Amarnathji Yatra shall remain temporarily suspended fromboth Pahalgam and Baltal routes with effect from 19.07.2026. Accordingly, no onward movement of pilgrimswill be permitted from the Baltal and Nunwan/ Chandanwari base camp from 19.07.2026. Updates regarding the resumption of Yatra shall be issued in due course of timeafter ensuring route safety and comprehensive assessment of the weather conditions", the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg said.

Divisional Commissioner Jammu @Rameshkumarias , today took first-hand appraisal of the facilities and arrangements for pilgrims undertaking Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026 at yatra camp Chanderkote in Ramban, different langar sites and lodgement centres in Udhampur.

The Div Com directed the District Administrations to ensure the uninterrupted availability of all essential services at the lodgement centres and langer sites throughout the yatra period. He emphasized the need to maintain high standards of cleanliness, prompt service delivery and effective coordination among all stakeholder departments to facilitate a safe, smooth, and hassle-free pilgrimage.
