In the 138th edition of Mann Ki Baat today, PM Sh @narendramodi Ji reflected on the evolution of India's response to terrorism over the years.

The surgical strikes carried out against terrorist havens across the border, undertaken under his leadership, stand as a defining moment in India's long engagement with the challenge of terrorism.
For decades, our nation and indeed the wider world bore the heavy cost of terrorism - from the serial blasts in Delhi and Mumbai to 26/11 among others. For much of that period, however, India's responses were shaped by caution and a measure of inexplicable restraint.

The strikes following Uri marked a turning point in that approach.
India made clear that its abiding commitment to peace should not be mistaken for tolerance of terror. The surgical strikes, and later the Balakot air strike in response to Pulwama, signalled PM Modi Ji’s firm doctrine of zero tolerance for terrorism, and a readiness to hold those who threaten our security accountable.

This significant shift in posture ensured that terrorism does not simply remain a matter of national security, but is treated as an affront to humanity itself. Acts of senseless violence and terrorism against innocent citizens deny the most fundamental of rights, the right to life. They need to be dealt with firmly and strongly.
