I had the honour of signing, on behalf of the Central Corridor, an Implementation Agreement with GIZ under the Africa InCORE – Integrated Corridors for Economic Growth in Africa (Support to PIDA) initiative. The Agreement marks an important step in strengthening our longstanding partnership aimed at advancing regional integration, sustainable infrastructure development, and intra-African trade.
Through this collaboration, the Central Corridor will continue to benefit from technical support in key areas, including the implementation of the Green Economic Development Corridor (GEDC) initiative, preparation of strategic infrastructure projects, institutional capacity building, and investment mobilization. These interventions will contribute to enhancing the efficiency, sustainability, and competitiveness of our transport and trade corridor.
I command the continued commitment and cooperation of GIZ for the development of the Central Corridor and the African continent. Together, we remain committed to building integrated, investment ready corridors that facilitate trade, promote economic growth, and improve the livelihoods of our people.

The three Central Corridor member states of Tanzania, Burundi, and DRC have reaffirmed their commitment to developing an electrified SGR network linking the region, during a Tripartite Ministerial Meeting held in Kinshasa on 31 March 2026.
Convened at the invitation of H.E. Participants reviewed and approved the interim report covering railway operations, signaling, telecommunications, and energy components, while emphasizing the need to fast-track the remaining deliverables in line with agreed timelines.
The project was reaffirmed as a key driver of regional economic development, given its potential to unlock opportunities in mining, agriculture, and trade among the partner states.
