I have been asked a lot about my outlook of 2023 fiscally. My thoughts are as follows for The USA.
1. Student loan repayments restart in august. Many first time payers do not realize what is coming, as an additional bill each month will be hard for many people. 2. The 30 year old age group has a crazy debt to equity ratio. When money starts to get tight, this age group will be a hard hit demographic. 3. I believe a connection with these factors will create a recession, 2 or 3 months after student loans restart. This recession will possibly hit recent graduates the hardest, accelerated by student loans and debt to equity ratio. 4. Construction wise, we are already seeing leading indicators with new home construction and sales plummeting around the US. There are a few places that are still growing. I believe that will slow down and gradually correct the prices of places like Miami and Austin, where the new expansion has priced out much of the middle class population. I do not believe it will be a bubble popping, as there is still a lot of supply that is coming online. With the higher construction costs, developers will be reluctant to give big discounts to offload the properties. 5. I believe the best step forward for everyone is to double check your finances and savings. Don๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝt spend money that you donโt need to, and save as much as you can. We donโt know what the future holds, and it is best to plan now.
๐บ๐ธ Student loan defaults just hit a BRUTAL new record.
Delinquent debt exploded to $171.4 BILLION, the highest ever.
2.6 million borrowers defaulted in Q1 alone. Average age of someone defaulting?
Nearly 40.
This bubble is popping hard!!!
