I want to again draw attention to the attached post from last year. Managing misinfo and dealing with disinfo is crucial for India.

Along with

3) mandating AI video tool providers to add watermark & metadata to their videos as AI generated,

IMHO, India can do two things for a start:

1) Create a Center for SM & OTT content studies
2) Provide a tool for users to report content

For example, EU laws require SM platforms like X provide a tool to users (apart from their own "report post") to flag content violating a list of principles like hate speech, vulgarity, scam etc.

By implementing a similar mechanism, India can analyze what kind of anti-India content is being shared on SM as reported by Indians themselves. And check with SM companies on what actions they have taken regarding stopping such content.

For example, there's extremely racist, dehumanizing content with hateful images being shared on SM against Indians right now. When we report, all we get back is "This content doesn't go against our policies."

C'mon! Showing an Indian like a fly, eating shit, saying self derogatory things with an extremely racist comment isn't against their policy? How do we even allow this being the largest market for these companies? Don't we have any self respect?

It is the duty of the government of India to stop such extreme hate against Indians as it threatens individual safety of Indian citizens and the security, soverignity, and economy of the country.

The Center for SM & OTT Content Studies' main job must be to monitor, analyze, study, and recommend actions against propaganda, foreign interference, hate speech, divisive content, and election manipulation using SM in India.

All of which are blatantly happening on Indian social media controlled by foreign entities running them with no rules or regulations. To the extent, political parties are losing a number of seats just because of misinformation on SM.

At least for the political losses, there must be some effort by our netas to institute something to monitor and regulate SM & OTT content.

With respect to video content, when we have a censor board for films, how come we are allowing extremely obnoxious, perverted, anti-national content on SM & OTT apps to be consumed by our people, especially youth, on a daily basis without any effort to moderate?

If this goes on India will end up as a useless society deeply divided from within, easy to be broken into pieces. This is exactly the plan of at least two adversaries and they are working in earnest using just social media.
