PM Frederiksen: “Important meeting with PM @MarkJCarney. Canada is a valued partner and trusted friend of the Kingdom of Denmark. Our countries share a deep commitment to strengthening security and to continuing support to Ukraine.”
Today, the European Union took a major step forward.
All Member States agreed to open the first accession negotiations cluster with Ukraine and Moldova.
At the first Intergovernmental Conference on Monday, we will open the cluster on fundamentals; the backbone of the accession process.
It covers the core values and principles on which the EU is built, from the rule of law to strong democratic institutions.
This is a recognition of the determination, courage and hard work shown by both countries in advancing reforms, even in the face of immense challenges.
And a signal that the EU’s offer of peace, stability and opportunity is unmatchable.
Enlargement is a strategic choice.
By bringing our nations closer together, we strengthen peace, security and prosperity across our continent.
In a world marked by growing uncertainty, a larger European Union is in our common interest.
Enlargement remains one of the EU’s greatest success stories and our best investment in our shared future.
❝Since the announcement of Eastern Sentry in September, we have brought together more Allied forces and assets to protect our eastern flank – on land, at sea, and in the air.❞

PM Frederiksen: “Constructive talk with Secretary of State Marco Rubio together with Jens-Frederik Nielsen, Chairman of Naalakkersuisut, at the Munich Security Conference. Work will continue as agreed in the high-level working group.”
Russia is trying to freeze Ukraine into submission.
We will not let that happen.
Today we present the 20th sanctions package which also includes new measures on energy complementing our ban on Russian gas imports #REPowerEU ↓
PM Mette Frederiksen:
”The Danish government is closely monitoring the situation in Venezuela with our allies. Now is the time for de-escalation. International law must be respected.”
FM @larsloekke: "Dramatic development in Venezuela, which we are following closely. We need to get back on track toward de-escalation and dialogue. International law must be respected."
Just a friendly reminder about the US and the Kingdom of Denmark: We are close allies and should continue to work together as such. US security is also Greenland’s and Denmark’s security. Greenland is already part of NATO. The Kingdom of Denmark and the United States work together to ensure security in the Arctic. The Kingdom of Denmark has significantly boosted its Arctic security efforts - in 2025 alone, we committed USD 13,7 bn that can be used in the Arctic and North Atlantic. Because we take our joint security seriously.
And yes, we expect full respect for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Denmark.
Congratulations to @eu2025dk for its 🇪🇺Presidency, guided by determination &a genuine commitment to strengthening the European project to the benefit of our European citizens! 🇷🇴 and PRES DK 🇩🇰 shared a solid cooperation during a complicated semester for the EU, and work will continue together for a united, resilient, competitive and enlarged EU! #EU2025DK We are determined to keep the positive momentum going under the new 🇨🇾 Council Presidency. @larsloekke
Last day, I pass the baton of the 🇪🇺EU Presidency in Bucharest on to Cyprus Ambassador Stivaros, last leg of the 🇵🇱🇩🇰🇨🇾 Trio. Good luck with continued work for a secure, prosperous, competitive, free & democratic Europe. Trio Programme
Romania Joins the PURL Mechanism to Support Ukraine’s Defense.
The Government of Romania has adopted a decision to join the states contributing to the United States’ 🇺🇸proposal regarding the “Priority Acquisition List for Ukraine’s Defense” (PURL), with a contribution of EUR 50 million, alongside the majority of European allies and other likeminded states. The allocation for PURL is made in compliance with the budgetary ceiling for the year 2025.
Romania’s contribution to PURL will support the achievement of a lasting peace in 🇺🇦, by strengthening Ukraine’s capabilities.
Romania’s participation in the U.S.-led PURL mechanism directly contributes to the strengthening of regional security and is fully consistent with Romania’s commitments within @NATO and with the Strategic Partnership with the United States of America.
Through the efforts of President Trump, European leaders, and President Zelenskyy, the recent dialogue in the United States generated new momentum toward achieving a just and lasting peace. Romania contributes to European and allied diplomatic dialogue and to joint efforts aimed at generating significant security guarantees for both Ukraine and the region.

Tomorrow, Bulgaria joins the euro area.
This milestone reflects years of hard work and commitment.
Now it means simpler payments, easier travel and so many new opportunities for Bulgarian businesses.
Поздравления, Българя!
You can be proud of what you achieved.
The decision by the U.S. to impose travel restrictions on European citizens and officials is unacceptable and an attempt to challenge our sovereignty.
Europe will keep defending its values — freedom of expression, fair digital rules, and the right to regulate our own space.
Arctic security remains a key priority for the European Union, and one in which we seek to work with allies and partners.
Territorial integrity and sovereignty are fundamental principles of international law.
These principles are essential not only for the European Union, but for nations around the world.
We stand in full solidarity with Denmark and the people of Greenland.
In Nuuk, I reaffirmed France’s unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Denmark and Greenland.
Greenland belongs to its people.
Denmark stands as its guarantor.
I join my voice to that of Europeans in expressing our full solidarity.
We continue to stand in solidarity with Denmark and Greenland.
Greenland is an autonomous territory in the Kingdom of Denmark. Any changes to that status are for Greenlanders and Danes alone to decide.
We expect all our partners to respect their sovereignty and territorial integrity and to abide by their international commitments, enshrined inter alia in the United Nations Charter and the North Atlantic Treaty.
