You conveniently forgot the part about the lease expiring then they FORGE one instead of going thru the proper process for renewal. That’s why the case is currently in court.
@susankihika Political interest and greed has blinded people. Even if you are the juiciest peach some will still find you bitter.
But we will not stand and watch as they mislead Kenya's.
@susankihika This is a day that will be remembered by not only those that got the appointment letter but also the thousands that depend on the people.
You promise and you have now relieved. What would we want more?? 10
@susankihika You represented Nakuru in a way that shocked many and especially the few that had been misled by Tabitha Karanja's cries in funerals. Under your leadership, Nakuru is in safe hands. Usibabaiswe na Sauti za chura
Held in an interactive session with the Senate County Public Accounts Committee, chaired by Homabay Senator, Hon Moses Kajwang, to respond to financial and governance issues raised in the Auditor General's Report for the 2024/25 Financial Year.
We welcomed the observations contained in the report and addressed every concern with facts, figures, and verifiable records in the spirit of transparency, accountability, and openness to the people of Nakuru. As a county, we remain committed to prudent management of public finances and the efficient, responsible utilization of county resources to improve the lives and livelihoods of our residents.
We assured the committee of our continued readiness to appear before it whenever called upon to account for the use of public funds and to implement its recommendations in the interest of better service delivery and good governance for the people of Nakuru.
Present were Chief of Staff Peter Ketyenya, Finance CEC Stephen Njogu, and Chief Officers Samuel Ndegwa, Evelyne Kakai, Vincent Achoka, Margaret Kinyanjui, Francis Njoroge, Daniel Wainaina, and Kamau Kuria.
Handed over appointment letters to more than 300 healthcare workers recently employed on permanent and pensionable terms, further strengthening our commitment to delivering quality healthcare services.
In keeping with my pledge to prioritize our health workforce as a critical pillar in the provision of quality, affordable and timely healthcare, we issued appointment letters to 308 health workers, including nurses, clinical officers, nutritionists, dietitians, laboratory technologists and pharmacists who had previously served on contract and PNP terms. This reflects my firm belief that staff welfare is fundamental to efficient service delivery across our health facilities. So far, we have promoted a total of 1,367 healthcare workers, and this year we will recruit even more.
I commended our healthcare professionals for their dedication and contribution to the progress we have made in the health sector, while urging them to remain committed, focused and compassionate in serving our patients. As we continue expanding health infrastructure across the county, our goal is to ensure residents access quality healthcare closer to their homes, with health workers remaining at the heart of this vision. We believe that a well-motivated health workforce is essential to improving healthcare delivery and achieving better outcomes for our people.
Present were Chief of Staff Dr Peter Ketyenya, Health CEC Roselyn Mungai, Chief Officers Dr Daniel Wainaina and Joseph Kibusya, County Public Service Board members led by Chairman Charles Mwai, and Nakuru Teaching and Referral Hospital Director Dr Santosh Devaraj.
@susankihika Congratulations on yet another milestone for the people of Nakuru. Reviving and completing this vital maternity wing is a clear demonstration of leadership that delivers. Wishing every mother and newborn safe, quality care as this facility begins serving the community.
A promise made. A promise delivered.
Gov @susankihika has officially commissioned the ultra-modern Maternity Wing at Elburgon Hospital, bringing safer deliveries, quality maternal care, and renewed hope to families.
Delivering development. Delivering results.
Mama ni Tūtam.
This is actually sad! Inspections are done to make sure vehicles are road worthy keeping everyone safe on the roads. But go on and do what you do best, incite!
Officially commissioned the new state-of-the-art Maternity Wing at Elburgon Level 4 Hospital, providing mothers with a safer, more dignified and comfortable environment as they welcome new life into the world.
The modern Mother and Baby Wing features 30 maternity beds, 10 baby cots, three resuscitaires and two delivery beds designed to guarantee privacy for mothers while creating a better working environment for healthcare workers. Serving a catchment population of about 13,000 people, the facility now handles approximately 120 normal deliveries and between 15 and 20 caesarean section deliveries every month. It is also expected to manage around 30 emergency obstetric cases and nearly 296 post-abortion care cases annually.
The facility will improve newborn survival by promoting skilled deliveries while ensuring faster access to emergency obstetric care whenever needed. This important project had stalled in 2021 before our administration revived and completed it.
Beyond healthcare, we are set to begin laying cabro pavements in Elburgon Town while modernizing its sewerage and drainage systems. Upgrading and gravelling of roads under the Imarisha Barabara programme is progressing well, and we have already engaged a new contractor to complete the previously stalled ESP Market. Other ongoing interventions include the Uji Programme in all ECDE centres, alongside continued investments in water and agriculture.
Present were Chief of Staff Peter Ketyenya, CEC Members Roselyn Mungai and Zipporah Wambui, Chief Officers Daniel Wainaina, Ken Mungai and Kibet Kurgat, MCAs led by area MCA Njuguna Mwaura, and the Hospital In-Charge, Dr Risper Wambua.
Held a consultative meeting with leaders of Boda Boda operators to deliberate on the Governor’s Affordable Boda Boda Programme, which we are set to launch in September.
Supported by a Sh60 million Boda Boda Fund, the initiative seeks to empower operators by easing the cost of acquiring motorcycles through affordable deposits and lower daily repayment rates. Under the programme, riders will acquire electric motorcycles with a deposit of Sh10,000 and a daily repayment of Sh189. For fuel-powered motorcycles, operators will pay a deposit of Sh12,000 and a daily repayment of Sh242. This marks a significant reduction from the high deposits and repayment rates that have long placed a heavy financial burden on our riders.
Kenya Commercial Bank, our key partner in the programme, outlined the process of accessing motorcycle financing and addressed concerns raised by the Boda Boda leadership. We will also prioritize the construction of additional Boda Boda sheds, roads, and high-mast lighting, while incorporating motorcycle riding skills into the curriculum of our Vocational Training Centres (VTCs). I remain committed to advancing the welfare and growth of the Boda Boda sector.
Present were Deputy Governor H E David Kones, Chief of Staff Peter Ketyenya, CECs Stephen Kuria and Zipporah Wambui, Deputy CS Newton Mwaura, Chief Officers Kibet Kurgat, Francis Njoroge, Joseph Kibusya and Gladys Kamuren, and KCB team led by General Manager David Nyamu.
Joined widows from Nakuru County to commemorate International Widows' Day at Nyayo Gardens in Nakuru City.
Organized in conjunction with Tabernacle Widows Home, led by Dr Mary Mugambi, the event brought together more than 750 widows from the county's 11 sub-counties. I acknowledged the challenges they face, including property disputes and the struggle to educate their children.
I directed my officers to prioritize children from widowed families for bursaries, provide widows with low-interest Wezesha Fund loans, expedite land cases involving widows, and offer legal aid. I will work with Tabernacle Widows Home to organize a meeting with widows by October. I also urged all Chief Officers to include widows in government programmes such as NAVCDP under the Department of Agriculture.
Present were CECMs Elga Riaga and Zipporah Wambui, Chief Officers Gladys Kamuren, Kibet Kurgat and Edward Gitau, and Apostle Sammy Ngahu.
Hosted the Senate County Public Investments and Special Funds Committee, led by Chairman Senator Godfrey Osotsi, during a courtesy call ahead of their inspection tour of public utilities across Nakuru County.
I welcomed the committee and expressed my appreciation for their visit as part of their oversight mandate. As a county, we remain committed to transparency and accountability. I noted that although Nakuru is a water-scarce county, investments in boreholes have increased access to clean and safe drinking water to 63 per cent. I also highlighted that NAWASSCO was recently ranked the best-performing water service provider in the country.
Our health facilities continue to make significant progress, with improved quality and more timely service delivery. We are now offering more specialised healthcare, including the recently established optical laboratory at the Nakuru Teaching and Referral Hospital. We look forward to receiving the committee's feedback and implementing its recommendations to further strengthen service delivery.
Present were Deputy Governor H E David Kones, Chief of Staff Peter Ketyenya, and County Executive Committee Members Nelson Maara and John Kihagi.
