This is so inspiring. 👍🏼
I don’t know who this boy is, but he deserves all the love and recognition for being an inspiration to so many of us who struggle with various limitations or inhibitions.
Let’s make him famous 😊
"Amit Shah mera desh nahi hai!"
This bold statement highlights deep anger against political leaders. Desh ke grehmantri par uthe ye sawal dikhate hain ki janta ka gussa kis hadd tak badh chuka hai. Kya aisi soch desh ko aage le ja payegi?
As he completes six years in Tihar jail, reading news reports about students and young people protesting the NEET paper leak made Umar Khalid feel a rise of "restlessness”, he said, speaking to his friends and family. He longs to somehow “get the sensory taste of the potential of dissent” and be surrounded by “the charismatic youth of my country”. More than anything, these reports lift him out of despair.
"The experiences of the last twelve years have demonstrated to them that the RSS-BJP are not working for nation-building, but are destroying it brick by brick. I also read some reports about students carrying placards calling for my release. I smile within and feel the warmth of camaraderie," he said.
For Khalid, the significance lies in the fact that despite “all the lies, all the propaganda, and all the violence and threats”, young people have not been deterred from exercising their freedom and agency. “They are once again proclaiming to the state: we see you.” He also writes about his book, Fractured Communities: Adivasi Histories and the Politics of Power, being received with kindness – something that “reaffirms my belief in the power of words”.
On 13 September, Umar Khalid completed six years in prison without trial. Six years in which the voices reaching him from outside – students protesting, young people demanding accountability, readers receiving his words with kindness – have also reminded him that the possibility of dissent, solidarity and hope has not disappeared.

I’m thinking of Umar Khalid. I think of him everyday. I hope he knows he is wrong- he has not been forgotten. Countless like me keep him in our hearts and minds, we pray for him, fight for his freedom in whatever way we can.
Umar Khalid walked so Gen Z could run.
The battle to end his illegal imprisonment continues.
