R.I.P. Tupac Shakur 🕊️💔
30 years ago today, the world lost one of hip-hop’s most influential voices.
His music, words and legacy still live on across generations.
June 16, 1971 — September 13, 1996. 🕊️
Lilica was left as a puppy at a junkyard in São Carlos, in the interior of São Paulo. The yard’s owner, Neile Vânia Antônio, let her stay. Other dogs, a cat, chickens, and a mule lived there too. After she whelped a litter and food ran short, she began walking at night to a teacher, Lúcia Helena de Souza, who packed rice, sausage, and beans and handed her a bag.
Contemporary local reporting put the walk at about two kilometers along a busy road. Later retellings stretched it to four miles or twelve. What did not change is the rest of the circuit. Lilica ate a little, took the bag in her mouth, and went back to the scrap heap. The other animals ate from it. She kept the route for years, rain included, until the video made the yard briefly famous.
One stray dog. An 8-mile journey. One bag of food. A whole family waiting for her return.
