I cannot restate enough, you do NOT need outsiders approval to meet with God. Pastors and faith leaders can help you understand yourself and God better, but you don’t need their approval or permission to connect or grow with God.
I understand a need to converse about healthy & unhealthy forms of revival. But sometimes I wish we could just let local faith communities do their thing. Trust the students/administrators to steward this. Maybe they don’t need outsiders approval to meet w/ God & one another. 4/6
Few jobs are as closely criticized as sports. Often feel bad for players. The amount of play by plays that show up on my FYP on all social is excessive.
Can’t imagine my every step being stopped, replayed, and criticized.
Crazy.
The GREAT ABANDONMENT of the Church is caused more by its response to:
1. Donald Trump
2. George Floyd, BLM, and CRT
3. COVID
than it is
1. Deconstruction
2. Rejection of Jesus
3. The chance to sleep in
They had to leave the Church to keep their faith.
@derekhiebert@northwestu It was those same books and more coupled with relationships at my partner that help me reconstruct and pursue vocational ministry.
@derekhiebert As an @northwestu partner student, several THEO and BIBL classes had required reading books that illuminated how little I truly knew scripture and, ultimately, God. To such a degree that I told a friend I wasn’t sure if I knew him at all. And if not, am I even a Christian?
This is incredibly moving & powerful. Brought me to tears. I know everyone has their own religious views. But I feel God was ever present in that stadium last night. Hoping & praying for a miracle. Just felt compelled to share this. 🙏
