This is a really sound argument. To intensify it further, it is not that Christians, many centuries later, sat down and drew clever parallels between Jesus and the Old Testament.

It is that Jesus himself, in the New Testament, is directly quoted identifying those connections in the first person, before hostile Jewish audiences who knew those texts intimately and had every incentive to expose bad exegesis.

He opens Isaiah 61 in the synagogue, reads it aloud, and says “today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”

In John 5 he says “if you believed Moses you would believe me, for he wrote about me.”

He quotes Isaiah 53:12 and says “this must be fulfilled in me.”

He asks the Pharisees why David, in Psalm 110, calls his own son “Lord”showing implicitly that the Messiah must be simultaneously David’s son and David’s God.

In John 8 he tells the crowd “before Abraham was, I am”, invoking the divine name from Exodus 3 so precisely that they immediately picked up stones.

He takes the bronze serpent from Numbers 21 and says “as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up” claiming a wilderness narrative was always a picture of his crucifixion.

He applies the sign of Jonah to his own death and resurrection: three days in the earth as Jonah was three days in the fish.

He takes the Son of Man vision in Daniel 7 and applies it to himself at his own trial. The high priest tears his robes. The claim was not ambiguous.

He tells his disciples after the resurrection that everything written about him in the Law, the Prophets, and the Psalms must be fulfilled, then opens their minds to understand the scriptures.

These are not theological deductions made by later apologists. These are first-person statements made by the subject of prophecy, to people who held those texts sacred, at personal cost. When your citations are precise enough to be considered blasphemy by the most rigorous textual scholars of your day, you are not being vague.

Muhammad has no such record. The entire Muslim case for his presence in the Hebrew scriptures rests on Deuteronomy 18, Song of Solomon 5:16, and Paraclete arguments in John, all laughable external claims made by scholars arguing on his behalf, centuries later, through transliteration games and contested readings.

The one passage where Muhammad himself is quoted making a prophetic claim is Surah 61:6, where Jesus supposedly says “a messenger will come after me whose name is Ahmad.”

One verse, in Muhammad’s own book attributed to Jesus. 😂 It does not appear in any Gospel, manuscript, or textual tradition that predates Islam by even a single year. To accept it as prophecy, you must first accept that every copy of the Gospels in every language across every century was corrupted, and that only Muhammad’s account preserved what Jesus actually said, which is not far away from lunacy.

One man identified himself within the canon from the inside, before witnesses who would have destroyed him for getting it wrong. The other was inserted into it from the outside by people who needed him to be there. That is the difference between a prophecy being fulfilled and a prophecy being manufactured.

Galatians 4:4 looks like a transition verse.

“But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth His Son.”

If you read it fast, it sounds like a timestamp. But if read slowly, it is the most staggering sentence in the Bible.

‘Fullness of time’. Paul isn't saying God picked a convenient moment. He is saying God declared a moment complete. “The preparation is finished and everything I have been building across centuries is exactly where I need it to be”. God looked at human history and said: now.

Which forces the question. Why then? Why not a thousand years earlier, when Moses was fresh? Why not a thousand years later? What was so perfect about the first century?

I started looking into it and I have not recovered.

God needed a people with the theology. He spent 2000 years forming Israel; the covenant, the sacrificial system, the prophets, Isaiah 53 written seven centuries before Calvary, the framework of a coming Messiah who would bear the sin of the world. The Jews were shaped by wilderness, exile, and divine discipline, until the theological infrastructure for substitutionary atonement was fully in place.

But theology alone could not travel. God needed a language. Not a tribal dialect, but a universal tongue. So five hundred years before the Gospel, He let the Greek philosophers begin.

Heraclitus sat in Ephesus and concluded the universe was governed by an invisible rational principle. He called it the Logos.

The Stoics built on it. Philo of Alexandria stood at the intersection of Greek thought and Hebrew scripture and said the Logos was the mind of God in creation. For five hundred years, philosophy built a conceptual category it could not fill.

Then God sent a conqueror with no interest in theology. Alexander the Great wanted glory and empire. God let him want it. In satisfying his ego across three continents, Alexander Hellenized the ancient world and forged Koine Greek, the common tongue of the docks, markets, soldiers, and slaves. A language stripped of complexity, simple enough for anyone, universal enough for everyone.
The Hebrew scriptures were translated into it. The Septuagint was born. God used a pagan conqueror’s ambition to translate His own Word.

Then Rome came and paved the road. The Pax Romana. Piracy cleared. Stone highways stretching from Spain to Syria. A framework for movement the ancient world had never seen.

None of them knew they were collaborating.

Heraclitus thought he was doing philosophy. Alexander thought he was building a monument to himself. Rome thought it was building an empire for Rome. Not one of them understood they were stagehands. God was with Heraclitus in his pondering, with Alexander in his conquest, with Roman engineers laying stone, quietly requisitioning their work for a purpose none of them could see.

And then, when the covenant people were in place, the language primed, the roads built, and the category ready, when everything He had been quietly assembling was finally set, God stepped into the room they had unknowingly prepared.

John picked up his pen and wrote: “In the beginning was the Logos.”

Every Greek philosopher in the Mediterranean felt the ground shift. “And the Logos became flesh.” The category they spent five centuries constructing was not a principle. It was a Person.

The ‘fullness of time is not a timestamp’. It is God’s signature on a completed work. And the humbling thing is that this work was not built by saints. It was built by conquerors, philosophers, and emperors who thought they were writing their own story. God let them think that. And used every word. If this is not amazing then I don’t know what is.

A standard Rolex has about 200 moving parts. The Patek Philippe on Jay-Z's wrist at the Met Gala has 1,580. Patek spent 8 years designing it. Then over 100,000 hours building the first one. About 11 straight years of someone working 24 hours a day, no breaks.

It's called the Grandmaster Chime, the most complicated wristwatch Patek has ever made. The inner mechanism alone has 1,366 parts. It fits in a circle smaller than an Oreo cookie. The outer case adds another 214 parts, and the case alone took four years to design.

In watchmaking, a "complication" is just any function beyond telling you the time. Most watches in the "grand complication" category have 5 to 7. This one has 20. When it launched, no wristwatch in history had combined that many. It tracks the phase of the moon, accurate to one day's drift over 122 years. It also has five different ways to chime: one that automatically rings the hours and quarters, one that rings only the quarters, one you press a button to hear the current time, one that rings whatever alarm time you set, and one that chimes today's date on demand. The last two had never existed in any watch before. Both were invented by Patek's own president, Thierry Stern, a trained watchmaker himself.

The chiming makes this watch nearly impossible to copy. Inside each one are tiny coiled steel wires called gongs. A single watchmaker shapes and tunes each gong by hand, testing every note with their own ears. Just putting one chime mechanism together takes 200 to 300 hours. Then the watch goes into a soundproof chamber where the chime gets recorded and compared against decades of past Patek chimes. Only then is it brought to Thierry Stern. He listens. If he doesn't like the sound, the watch goes back. Sometimes more than once. A rejected watch can take 500 hours of rebuilding before he approves it.

This watch holds four power springs in total. One is dedicated to the chimes alone, separate from the spring driving the time. Inside the mechanism is a ball bearing 7.2mm wide. It holds seven steel balls, each 0.3mm across, smaller than grains of fine sand. They handle 1,700 gram-millimetres of twisting force from the chime springs without slipping. The case has 11 holes drilled through it for buttons and pushers, and somehow none of them ruin the chamber that lets the chimes ring out clearly. The case itself flips around to show either of its two different dials.

Fewer than five workshops on the planet can build something at this level. Patek Philippe is the one all the others measure themselves against.

Jay-Z's version lists at $6.5 million. The unique steel version sold for $31 million at Christie's in 2019. It still holds the record for the most expensive watch ever sold at auction.

The gospel of John opens with the Logos creating the universe and ends with Him grilling fish for breakfast for his disciples. It also adds a quick note that if everything Jesus did had been written down, there wouldn't be enough room in the whole world for all the books.

Powerful enough to create a universe and do endless deeds, but relatable enough to grill up breakfast for friends. That is our God.
