This is unnerving. Last session I authored HEA1033, which strengthens the accountability & structure of the Marion Co judiciary. What happens in Marion does impact the donuts and vice-versa, & I’m proud our reforms are some of the most meaningful for the Marion Co court in years.
If I told you that one man since 2020 has faced over 30 criminal cases in Indiana, including most being felony charges in Marion County for theft, resisting law enforcement, drug offenses, residential entry, auto theft, and criminal trespass, would you expect him to be in jail?
Me too.
Recently, he allegedly committed a violent crime against Carmel residents, injured a victim and terrorized a family.
Unacceptable.
Let me ask what many residents are likely thinking: How does this happen?!
Carmel and other donut county residents pay the price when repeat offenders in Marion County cycle through the system without accountability. Our residents deserve to be safe. And police officers, who repeatedly do their jobs and put themselves in harm’s way, deserve a system that works alongside them.
We’ve invested in more personnel, technology and partnerships to keep Carmel safe. Enough is enough. This cannot be our new normal. It’s time Marion County does their part and holds criminals accountable.
@aaron_renn We’ve bucked this trend here for several years and we’re an outlier, while our surrounding states were losing population. Centered in a small handful of places. Important to continue investing - strategically - in amenities that families/talent consistently say they want.
Over the last 20 yrs, we’ve taken Indiana global & we’re not looking back! Ag is often the reason. Spent the morning welcoming Hoosier farmers & ldrs from 14 countries who are participating in the Soybean Oil Masters Program, hosted by @INSoybean. Grateful for their leadership!
HamCo is blessed with four of the state’s great mayors. .@SueFinkam & @mayorwillis are amazing partners & forward-thinking leaders, & I’m grateful for their support! Looking forward to continuing to work alongside them representing the priorities of the communities we serve!
Beautiful day to be out, knocking on doors and chatting with neighbors on all kinds of issues! The neighborhoods around downtown Carmel are so unique and spectacular! #HD39
So.... this happened! Last weekend, I had the incredible honor of delivering the commencement address for Marian University's School of Osteopathic Medicine and Graduate Programs! @MarianUniv is truly redefining higher ed around impact off campus as much as on it!
A beautiful ceremony this evening in Carmel to honor and memorialize those Hamilton County law-enforcement officers who have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
Knocking in Westfield this morning! Great conversations around childcare, antisemitism, & keeping our state focused on the momentum we’ve built for 2 decades! Come out and say hello, HD39! @mayorwillis@patrick_tamm
I was proud to carry SB 160 through the House last session, an important response to growing antisemitism and hate littering in our communities. I’m grateful to @SenatorDeery@causlander@miriamdant & all who advocated for this effort!
Last week, I joined Gov Braun, Sen Kyle Walker, and foster youth advocates for the bill signing of SEA15, a bill I carried in the House. This effort was a big win for youth in Indiana’s foster care system, and I’m proud of all the work that went into getting it done!
Professionals mid-career continue to flock to cities with the jobs, amenities, and networks they need to thrive. This is the competition we’re in, and we need to continue to invest.
Starbucks, Nashville and the new corporate geography - Great @Richard_Florida piece on the "unbundling" of the corporate headquarters https://t.co/Fb4XJDlSW7
Fun to join @mayorwillis as he presented Westfield & Purdue star Braden Smith the key to the city last night. Westfield schools are preparing the state’s leaders in the classroom, in athletics, and beyond, a big part of the reason people are flooding to the city to have their kids in these schools!
