FOR THOSE WHO CLAIM TO BE CONSERVATIVES AND DEMONIZE SOUTHERN SECESSION, THIS IS FOR YOU:
Your focus is on slavery or modern political fodder. You should notice what actually happened to our central government. Prior to Lincoln’s War the federal government was limited to its delegated powers and anything not delegated was a state authority. The federal government and the states were on a level playing field outside of those few and specific delegated powers. The right of secession kept the federal government in its lane. It was created to work as an agent FOR the states, not vice versa.
Lincoln’s War consolidated power and transformed the dynamic of our country from a federal identity to that of a national character. The Founders were careful to avoid even mentioning the word “national.”
You get lost in the “slavery” weeds, which is what those who wrote the history want. Meanwhile, you ignore the central government coup d'état, that placed the central government above the states. You have been indoctrinated by the Pledge of Allegiance and the idea that the Stars and Stripes flies above the state flags. These are both products of Lincoln’s power grab.
You support this consolidation of power, which anyone who opposes larger, more intrusive, government, would never do. No conservative would approve of giving the central government more power, while reducing that of the states.
If you can’t understand this, there isn’t much else I can tell you.
Shocking that Northerners owned slaves? Many affluent Yankees did...it's just not included in the approved "history" books. Despite your obvious desire to pursue the truth, you seemed to have swallowed the kool-aid served by the victors of that tragic war. (Remember boys and girls, the War was fought to free the slaves from those evil Southerners who were using them. You know, people like Sherman, who used them when he could) I suggest you read the actual words of the major players of the 1860's both North & South. Quotes and letters cannot be twisted and manipulated like "history" books written by authors with an agenda. Or maybe read "The Real Lincoln" written by Thomas DiLorenzo who provides 30 some pages of references where he researched his information. Don't believe you really want to swallow that blue pill though....
The last and best effort to thwart the threat of an ambitious, overbearing, federal government that had (and has) a thirst for power that destroyed the original intent of the Founding Fathers. That flag stood for independence, individual freedoms and a government that served the people....not the other way around. If that disturbs you, read the actual words of Jefferson Davis, Lincoln, General Cleburne and many others who were front & center during the tragedy of the 1860's and stop reading the "history books" written by the victors.
This doesn’t sound like the Confederate President’s main concern was “preserving” slavery.
“You have already emancipated nearly two millions of our slaves, and if you will take care of them, you may emancipate the rest. I had a few when the war began. I was of some use to them; they never were of any to me. Against their will you 'emancipated' them, and you may 'emancipate' every negro in the Confederacy, but we will be free! We will govern ourselves.”
~ Jefferson Davis, The Atlantic Monthly, Aug. 18, 1864, "Our Visit to Richmond," by J. R. GILMORE. Mr. GILMORE accompanied Col. JAQUES
This is a great (but just one) example of Lincoln's hypocrisy and the many lies told and/or truths that have been hidden from the American people to push the narrative that Lincoln was the "greatest" President we ever had. How do you cover up the horrendous actions of a butcher, a tyrant and a dictator?? You rearrange history and tell the lies constantly for 160 years....and 98% of the people will believe it without question.
WHAT HAPPENED TO LINCOLN'S WIFE's SLAVES?
(You won't believe it!)
Mary Lincoln was from Kentucky. Her father was very well to do, and he owned slaves. He died without a will in 1849. His estate was parceled out to his heirs. Mary Lincoln along with at least three sisters was to be given an equal share. She received a share of the slaves. Being a female in Illinois, she could not own property, so her husband, honest Abe held the property for her. That property included slaves.
Abe Lincoln and the other three husbands answered the Court together, in 1850, about the real estate and the slaves. They all answered that the slaves and property could be sold by the Court, and the proceeds be split up.
Abe and his wife did NOT buy any of those slaves from the estate, and then give them their freedom. They agreed for them to be sold back into slavery!
Nobody ever told me, or taught me this. I bet you NEVER heard it too. I wonder why?
The source, proof, and a photocopy of the answer from Honest Abe and the other three husbands to the court about the sale of slaves, will be below in the first three comments. This is all contained in the book, The Lincolns in the White House, by Kevin Orlin Johnson, Ph. D.
As always, have fun learning things! 🤪😜😝😛🤑🤓🥸🧐😎😎😎
@JDunlap1974 That was accomplished right after the (Un)Civil War by Lincoln. The actual (freed) slaves were given property and livestock. Why should 150+ years of descendants receive a reparation for something they were not a part of?
Just wondering if California liberals can explain why they are still paying over $4 a gallon for gas. I can explain it....but first, consider I just spent $2.41 per gallon for regular unleaded I bought yesterday in NC...
@BarackObama@SpanbergerForVA Barry's so FOS. The socialist revolution is falling apart and it's deceptive game plan is being exposed. Those lies are not even close to believable anymore.
It's spiral eyed socialist revolutionaries like these libtards that are making the USA a dangerous place. Thank God we live in a free Constitutional Republic with the right to bear arms and protect ourselves. When the armed faction supporting these morons start their war, I'm pretty sure there will be a public (defensive) response. Seems the silent majority has had enough and we're not so silent anymore.
Just more proof Pence is a RINO. He thinks everyone will support him if he keeps one foot on each side of the political fence. What a moron...nobody likes him bc he's so wishy washy. Probably the biggest Trump mistake was selecting Pence to be his VP the first go around. Obviously, Trump is much more prepared to combat the DC BS this time.
