We’ve been working hard to support students who’ve experienced trauma & those with mental health concerns. The grown-ups in our schools aren’t immune to these. We need to ensure that there are resources available to support our staff too.

@MegSchmidt43 @megburkeNPSD #NPSDCHAT - Yes! If I ever get brave enough to get a tattoo, it will read, "From a place of GRACE". Respond from that place in ALL areas- so difficult, but so necessary!
#NPSDCHAT A4: Flexibility. Year 29 for me and I feel certain that I know what works in a classroom and how to give students a great start to the year. This year, I need to demonstrate my own flexibility in reaching them.
This right here #NPSDCHAT is so important for us to remember for ourselves, our students, our families, and each other. The role of teachers matters more than ever right now as @katiemartinedu writes in her recent article.
@RMartielloNPSD #NPSDCHAT A3:. Remaining intentional about giving opportunities for students to collaborate, work independently, and to publish or celebrate work within the classroom group will allow for the learning to gain depth and, I think, raise the level of concern and engagement.
Q3. Digitizing curriculum and monitoring completion of assignments is not engagement. What are some ways teachers can maximize more learning for students and less assigning? #NPSDCHAT
@megburkeNPSD A2-: Prioritizing outcomes and a variety of ways to meet those outcomes and goals has always been important, but more so in this model than ever. With that, I am being intentional about creating lessons that will allow for frequent check-ins/breakouts & reflections #NPSDCHAT
@RMartielloNPSD A1: I believe the biggest challenge will be to create plans that consistently address the differing home schedules, resources, and level of support that each student has at home. #NPSDCHAT

I am focused on the awareness that this process is fluid, that the same growth I see in the students is occurring with me, because this environment is new with all of us. I would give myself the assurance that any growth will help the students and serve them well.
A3- I believe that feedback would have to be focused on goals. When feedback is focused on goals, it becomes less personal and more like a mutual progress check. I know that when I receive feedback in that manner, I take it more as formative feedback.
A3: Do not begin the discussion with your lense or perspective. Use questions to lead discussion. "Be the mirror" and allow your colleague to see things through their lense and make those discoveries. This will lead to ownership rather than hurt feelings over judgement. #NPSDCHAT
