Today’s operation exposed the scale of the challenge we are dealing with. So far, 32 undocumented foreign nationals have been arrested. The number could have been much higher, as hundreds of workers fled the site when law enforcement arrived, with many jumping over walls to evade inspection.

[📸 Happening Now] Together with the Executive Mayor of the City of Joburg, Cllr @DadaMorero and Members of the Mayoral Committee of the City of Joburg are on site at Riverside in the @CityofJoburgZA, where we are leading a Multidisciplinary High Impact Blitz Inspection in a construction and we have detained at-least 41 illegal foreign nationals to be processed by the Department of @HomeAffairsSA.

The Inspections are conducted regularly to ensure compliance with various Laws of the Republic of South Africa.

[📹 Happening Now] The Employer has been charged in terms of Section 38 of the Immigration Act and at least 80 illegal foreign immigrants found on site have been detained for further processing and deportation, also the Construction Permit has been temporarily suspended until some matters relating to the Occupational Health and Safety Act have been addressed as per the Prohibition Notices issued during the Multidisciplinary High Impact Blitz Inspection in the @CityofJoburgZA.
