Only the 7th Retro Completion, but it took me back to playing WWF Wrestlefest in a kebab shop nearby when I was a little kid. If I'm honest it was a war of attrition and I still couldn't tell you a technique for actually winning grapples.
Finally added a new retro completion to my list. It's a special one. 33 years after first playing it. I've finally beat Ghouls N Ghosts and one professional difficulty. This was the first game I played on my Mega Drive. Very happy to have cleared it.
Just felt the need to share how gorgeous #metroidprime4 is. I just totally fell in love with art direction, and genuinely felt for Duke/Armstrong. Their closeness and fondness for each other came through without ever being directly addressed. Thank you @RetroStudios
Been a long time (I finished Metroid Prime 4) but I finally have another retro completion. Played through Captain Commando using about 25 credits worth of 20ps. Genuinely funny little game, the Final Boss is called Scumicide and that gave me a chuckle.
Slow start to the year but our 4th retro completion is LoZ: Link's Awakening DX. Man, when I got stuck, I REALLY got stuck. I'm going to make detailed notes on all the npcs and such for the next zelda so I don't forget something that I need later!
3rd Retro Completion of the year is Mega Man 2 The Power Fighters. Much like the first Mega Man fighter it's an easy run though on a few credits but so much fun. As with the original I'll be playing this a bunch more!
2nd Retro completion. Mega Man The Power Battle. Was easy and while really very fun feels a bit cheeky having on the list cause it took maybe 10 mins to run though. So I'll finish all 3 modes with all 3 characters, and aim for a good ending. Big smile on my face the whole time.
First retro completion of 2026. LoZ:Ocarina Of Time. Quite emotional about this one, had multiple attempts over the years to clear this and it's finally in the books. Final boss section was bad, but the rest of the game was really wonderful. I miss N64 Hyrule already.
Retro completion 25. Dungeons & Dragons Shadow Over Mystara. A gorgeous looking beat em up from Capcom. Multiple routes through the game means you won't see everything on one run and it seems to decently reflect d&d in it's gameplay. Very cool
An entire month after the last retro completion we finally have number 24 completed. Aladdin on the Mega Drive. The back half of this game gave me some real trouble. The 'Inside The Lamp' level in particular has made me hate that Genie. I shall not rub a lamp should I find one.
After losing my save data 20mins from the end of the game, Metroid Zero Mission has been ticked off the list and marks my 23rd retro completion of the year. My first 2D Metroid and I may prefer it to Metroid Prime, the only other Metroid game I ever finished.
Retro completion 22 this year is another Biggie. The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past is finally finished. Brilliant game, bar a few moments I don't think I'd have ever solved without a reference to the internet. Flute by the weather vain. You're welcome.
21st Retro Completion of 2025 is a big one. Celebrating Mario's 40th anniversary by finally rescuing Peach in the original Super Mario Bros. But my quest isn't over and the next game I'm starting also features a princess.
20th Retro completion of 2025 is the mighty Sonic The Hedgehog 2! It's been a bucket list game of mine forever and I've had a blast this last week playing it. So excited to have finished this one! Crazy to think I first played it 33 years ago.
Finally, I can say with certainty that I've finished Streets Of Rage 1. I have to say it wasn't too bad once I started using some strats on the Bosses. Wasn't perfect but it kept me alive just long enough. Mona and Lisa the Blaze clones were such a a tough battle! 19th Completion
Daaaaamn, has it really been since May that I last finished a retro game? In my defense I've been playing Mario Kart World, Mario Odyssey, DK Bananza and Kirby's Epic Yarn.
Actually, is Kirby's Epic Yarn on the Wii a retro game? Maybe it counts.
Golden Axe (#MegaDrive) is done. I actually enjoyed this more than I expected. It's always great coming to these games and feeling myself get better at the game and develop strategies and learn levels. 18th #retrogame completion of the year!
By no means a 100% completion, but I just beat THPS2 on the Dreamcast. Mixed feelings mostly due to me sucking and never really finding lines to chain tricks for big points. Really think I'm missing something fundamental in playing this game.
