🚨 | CHUNG RESIGNS!!! 🇰🇷⚽️
Chung Mong-gyu has FINALLY stepped down as Head of the KFA.
Our LONG NATIONAL NIGHTMARE is OVER.
Expect an election for a new President to be held within 60 DAYS.
🚨 | Bento 🇵🇹 to Return to Korea? 🇰🇷
Star News reports that ex-KNT manager Paulo Bento has applied for his old position.
Who wants to see our old friend back? 🥹
Only difference between this year’s showing at the World Cup and 2014 is I’m sure airport security will be much tighter when the plane lands in Incheon.
Hope a few yeots still hit Hong Myung-Bo on the way out.
Park Ji-sung on Korean football: "We are repeating mistakes and nothing has changed since the 2014 World Cup. Bad preparation led to bad results. A genie cannot suddenly appear and fix everything so the system must fundamentally change for the long term"
Today's match was one of the worst South Korea World Cup games I've ever watched alongside the 2014 Algeria match.
And the manager 12 years ago was also Hong Myung-bo.
WHAT A MOMENT! ⚽️
Our guy @tuh0n got in-stadium footage of Hwang In-beom’s 🇰🇷 goal against Czechia 🇨🇿
It looks even prettier in-person 😍
#황인범#Feyenoord
25 passes before the goal. More than anything, it shows how much Korean football has evolved over the past several years. The foundations laid under Bento transformed the way we approach the game. Still more work to be done but it’s night and day vs how we used to set up.
25 - There were 25 passes in the build-up to Hwang In-Beom's goal for 🇰🇷 Korea Republic last night, their most ever in the lead up to a goal scored in FIFA World Cup history.
Methodical.
Hwang In-beom's game by numbers vs. Czechia:
93 touches (most)
73/81 successful passes
5 touches in opp. box
5x possessions won
3 duels won
2/2 successful take-ons
2/3 shots on target
1 chance created
1 big chance created
1 assist
1 goal
What a performance. 🇰🇷
🇰🇷 South Korea’s World Cup bonus package has just got even bigger.
KFA president Chung Mong-gyu has pledged a personal donation of nearly $4 million if Hong Myung-bo’s side make a deep run at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The extra bonuses will be paid separately from the KFA budget:
• Round of 32: approx $660,000
• Round of 16: approx $1.32m
• Quarter-finals: approx $1.98m
That means the total pledge could reach close to $4m if South Korea reach the last eight.
The KFA had already confirmed its largest-ever World Cup bonus scheme, with players set to receive progressive payments for each round reached and additional win bonuses.
Chung delivered the news to head coach Hong Myung-bo, captain Son Heung-min and members of the squad via video call.
His message: South Korea must go “beyond limits” and once again unite the country through football.
A huge financial incentive — and an even bigger stage ahead. 🌏🏆
