@erotic_josie I think it's as many as it takes. Some stories may only have 1 subplot, others might have 3.

Imo the subplots should enhance the main plot by revealing characters and themes.

@VictorKAcnam I'm fascinated by the world of Lordran in Dark Souls.

The creator is very conservative with lore, and instead leaves the player to fill in the gaps. This creates an aura of mystery that gets the fanbase making theories almost a decade later!
