i went back through enhypen’s previous comebacks because the way belift moved with bliss felt too strange to me.
if we look at the gap between the album announcement and the actual release:
border : day one — 33 days
border : carnival — 21 days
dimension : dilemma — 26 days
dimension : answer — 32 days
manifesto : day 1 — 20 days
dark blood — 29 days
orange blood — 32 days
romance : untold — 26 days
romance : untold -daydream- — 28 days
desire : unleash — 45 days
the sin : vanish — 32 days
the sin : bliss — 63 days.
that is literally nine weeks between the first album reveal (and let’s not forget pre-save) and release.
then there is the tracklist.
most enhypen tracklists were revealed somewhere around one or two weeks before the album.
for bliss: d-38.
we knew the entire tracklist more than a month before the album even came out.
and i think this distinction is important: i’m NOT saying belift suddenly gave enhypen amazing promotion.
because…genuinely where is it?
no usual comeback showcase.
no b-side promotion.
no studio choom.
only a short period of music-show promotions.
what belift extended was the pre-release period of the album.
bliss had nine whole weeks to build anticipation, keep the comeback circulating, collect pre-saves and pre-orders, generate noise and slowly release content before the album was even available.
anyone who was here during previous eras knows how much of enhypen’s momentum came from the fandom itself.
engenes streamed, voted, made guides, spread the comeback everywhere, organized projects and basically created an entire promotional machine around them while belift did the bare minimum. sometimes not even that.
now the conditions are completely different.
the fandom is heavily divided and that same level of coordinated fandom promotion obviously isn’t there anymore.
yet, belift suddenly gave this album the longest pre-release window enhypen has ever had.
was that because they desperately wanted to secure earlier those commercial results? especially considering everything happening around the company and fandom right now? i highly think so.
but we do know is that giving yourself 63 days instead of the roughly 20–45 normal days gives you a much longer window to accumulate demand and that important momentum before release.
so i don’t think looking at one bliss statistic and going “see? the boycott failed” tells us enough.
enhypen are obviously still a huge group. nobody needs to deny their popularity to make this point. i definitely won’t.
but bliss’ numbers were produced under very different conditions from previous eras. let’s not forget that.
belift didn’t suddenly learn how to properly promote enhypen.
they changed the strategy around the album itself: how early they introduced it, how long they gave it to build momentum, and how they positioned and sold it.
and you can’t compare the results without comparing the conditions that produced them.
You won’t boycott HYBE for ENHYPEN’s mistreatment, yet a dating rumor is enough to make you abandon them, leave the fandom, hate them, and wish for their downfall? The hypocrisy is insane.
I hope yall know the label will not be bringing Manon back. Yall can’t even boycott properly. By getting them this number 1 you’ve shown them she’s not needed.
the way most idols would be like ‘no i will protect you’ and then there’s felix saying he’d push stays to the front if we went to a haunted house together?:?:?:€:&?!! yes we’re gonna protect you fefi dw
