@UnionStationKC@kcsymphony Excited to see celebration at the station. Disappointed in the choice to block lines of site with food trucks and giant tv’s. Probably need to rethink that for next year, all seating around the fountain is blocked by trucks.
@Packfan93 @plugusin I think I might understand this now. Perhaps this is the way of your sup flooring your grade book, which is a practice I understand and agree with. It prevents the overweight of an F since F goes from 0-59 percent unlike all other letter grades in a traditional grade book.
@Packfan93 @plugusin This one I just don’t think I understand. Why give any credit for something that isn’t there? They showed zero mastery and need to still need to show understanding of the standard.
@Packfan93 @plugusin My question to this would be, if a kid misses the deadline, you completely lose any ability to see if the student knows the content, so just wash your hands of it? If a student is ready to show mastery, why create an arbitrary barrier? I argue it’s more about control than resp
@Packfan93 @plugusin Ok…lots to unpack here. I do disagree with not grading homework I would definitely give a grade for that, why give kids something that you don’t value? So it should have a grade applied, but should not be taken off for being late.
@Packfan93 @plugusin Which brings me to the question, did your district give a separate report card for desired behaviors/measures of citizenry/employability skills, whatever you want to call it?
@Packfan93 @plugusin The point I made was behavior should not be reflected on a grade card meant to show mastery or content. If you want to show behaviors or even “citizenry” it needs to be separate. What is your point to that other than it’s bad in our district now?
@Packfan93 @plugusin You misunderstand I believe. I’m not arguing your credentials, in fact I don’t care if you haven’t taught a year in your life your opinion matters regardless. The issue at present is you haven’t presented your side.
@Packfan93 @plugusin Well that’s disappointing. You leave the point untouched but go after my credibility? In some attempt to discredit someone with 15 years of teaching and the highest degree in the field? I’m not an expert but I think my point is worth being considered, I was hoping you’d go ther
@plugusin I would go further and state that the traditional points off for late work is more of a system of control for teachers than teaching responsibility. However, when so much importance is placed on asinine testing, what did we expect? I don’t blame teachers for their response.
@Packfan93 @plugusin I was for 9 years and now am an assistant principal in a public school. I’m well aware of the struggle of grading and late work. However, behavior should not be reflected on a grade card meant to state competency.
@Packfan93 @plugusin And right there you highlight the issue. A “behavior” should not be reflected in your grade that is supposed to show your level of competency in the subject. If you want to do a behavioral reflection, that should come separate.
@DuvalMagic@Borderlands I had a x3 1800 damage arctic ref Hawkin last night. You update and nerd down to just 1800. These adjustments (among many others) are really starting to piss me off. I get all excited about finding good weapon and then “BOOM!” You destroy my happiness.
