PlayStation has told everyone to brace for an entirely physical-media-free future just days after the company deleted more than 550 movies from the PlayStation Network.

Sony is currently charging $70 for God of War Ragnarok digitally. It is $32 at Wal-Mart. The game is 4 years old.
People will no longer have options after 2028 and will HAVE to go directly to Sony’s digital storefront and pay whatever PlayStation says.
Let’s sum things up recently with PlayStation
- Increased PS5 Prices
- Removed over 500 movies/TV shows from PS Store
- Still wants to Focus on live service games after a whole generation of failure with them
- Closed Bluepoint
- Stop Disc Production in Jan 2028
What a joke…
A digital only future with shit like this around is bleak. Not only will you not own anything, but Sony can raise prices on a whim and you won’t even have the option to get used games or even borrow games from people anymore. This is strictly anti-consumer from every angle.
Sony killed physical games because ownership gets in the way of control. A disc is yours and they don’t like that. They didn’t sell us the future of gaming. They sold us permission to play. If buying a game doesn’t mean owning it, then “buy” has lost its meaning.
One of the worst moves you could make.
Fast internet isn't available everywhere.
Physical is ownership.
Digital is renting under the lie of owning.
You go all digital, you better not price anything above $40, you're not paying for manufacturing/shipping/shelf cost anymore.
