Hey #MedTwitter did you know we've never elected a Black doctor as a voting Member of Congress? In an era when anti-DEI initiatives threaten #MedEd do you feel having that voice at the decision-making table is important? I do. #DiversityisStrength 1/3
Amazing talk by Tomoya Akashi on Traditional Chinese Medicine, Orientation Medicine, and the benefits of acupuncture. Definitely got our collective minds running on how our palliative patients could benefit!
Be kind to others and to yourself. Kindness is a choice and a conscious effort. At the end of a long day, in the midst of high acuity, or when we are overwhelmed, it is EASY to be mean or dismissive (and to beat ourselves up too).
Instead, take a breath and demonstrate grace.
An AMAZING time facilitating Relationship Centered Communication Workshop with Laura Kirk for the @UtswWellness Retreat! Energizing to see these skills applied by our Leaders and Division Chiefs and hopeful for the future of @UTSWNews.
That's a wrap!! @vitaltalk primer to goals of care conversations for all 240 graduating @UTSWedu medical students. Thanks to our @UTSWPalliative facilitators, @SimUtsw, & @UTSWInternalMed for making it a reality! Always invigorating to learn and practice with the next generation!
@LindsayMasland I've got an ever-evolving to-do list with micro-timelines out ~6 months. I often block writing/planning time for X project weeks in advance. My admin can see those topics and knows if/when ok to schedule over (but almost always honors the system). I'm productive and balanced 🤗
This is such a perfect analogy. Also appreciate the recognition that doctors often "dangle a carrot" that we have to realistic expectation of actually happening, often because it is uncomfortable for us and we "don't want to take away hope."
