If you have heard tell of legendary or mythic events of virtue, courage, strength, determination, skill, honor, truth, and goodness - that was probably me.
This poster came in a toolkit I have and it actually got me emotional. Raise a wrench to all those people who don’t talk, they do. Those folks who don’t blame, they engage. When stuff is broken they don’t cry and run…they stay and fix.
This. This is every interracial family in America. Every friendship across color lines. Every employer who hired an employee who she respects even with opposite politics.
Stop telling us how much our parents & brothers and co-workers hate us.
It’s untrue:
"If you cannot achieve equality of performance among people born to the same parents and raised under the same roof, how realistic is it to expect to achieve it across broader and deeper social divisions?"

On the left is NY's COVID-19 Curve.
Does it look familiar? It should.
It's exactly the curve that every health expert said we should desperately seek to avoid.
That's exactly what the image on the right was meant to convey. The states spiking now are the second curve.
NBC News spent weeks documenting its science contributor’s (@curefinder) battle with COVID-19, but now he admits that he never tested positive for it. https://t.co/xSnuZOvyjk
Reading another stunner of a paper. It contains this sentence: "Is there a trigonometry of privilege and are there quadratics that reveal the compound interest of colonization’s confiscation of Indigenous space?"

@TRHLofficial The fallacy here is that 'works' is not a Boolean all-or-nothing. I'm against lockdowns and mandatory mask requirements, but I understand that each thing works in reducing spread and that effectiveness compounds with each additional measure employed.
The Trader Joe's woman, NASCAR noose, Rayshard Brooks shooting, and yes, even George Floyd's death--we jump to fit each case to our prior beliefs, but the examples almost always turn out to be ambiguous, because the clear evil claimed to be everywhere is actually quite rare.
I like horses but dislike Trojan horses
Black lives matter but I can't support #BlackLivesMatter
I'm horrified by police brutality but oppose #DefundPolice
I know about abuses in STEM but believe #ShutDownSTEM is an antiblack message. Science enlightens, equalizes and empowers
Maybe an experiment like Minneapolis abolishing the police is exactly what we need for these people to finally wake up?
Steven Pinker wrote in The Blank Slate on how the police strike in Montreal changed his mind forever.
Isn’t it fascinating? Every single possible effort to make progress fails! Doesn’t matter what the effort is either. They just all grind to a halt.
What are the odds?
Surely it’s nothing. What was I thinking...silly me.
This is similar to “How can you be against Antifa when the name is short for anti-fascism? Are you pro-fascism??”
If there were an organization called “Save the adorable baby penguins from hunger!” I would especially recommend reading its platform carefully & several times over.
For all those who are for black lives mattering and against “Black Lives Matter(tm)” for various aspects of outrageousness (e.g. anti-semitism, anti-Israeli), you are likely finding the search for language to express yourself exhausting.
Obviously. But then that is so by design.
