English literature majors — the people who will become teachers — are going to college without having ever read a book because they "don't know how" and were never expected to because of "critical literacy", which is essentially critical theory applied to reading which teaches kids to basically invent their own meaning based on their feelings when reading a text instead of understanding what the author actually meant.

If that sounds so obviously stupid that you can't believe it's true, congratulations, you now understand why giving the corrupt federal government the power to decide education curricula for every child in America was a mistake.

The woke right is much more diffuse. Its dishonesty and hatred boils up from the dark underbelly of old school right wing antisemitism.
