UPDATE | Netanyahu orders total siege of occupied West Bank, seals Hebron following shooting operation

Following an early morning shooting operation near the northern entrance of Hebron that left six Israeli soldiers injured, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered an immediate military closure of the city and preparations for a complete lockdown across the occupied West Bank.

Israeli military sources report that two Palestinians were shot and killed during the confrontation, which prompted an urgent security assessment involving the head of the Shin Bet, the Commander of Central Command, and senior military officials.

Israeli military authorities have deployed additional occupation forces to enforce strict cordons, cutting off neighboring rural communities and severely restricting Palestinian movement.
