I'd like to take this time in appreciating Tony Scott's wacky aesthetic antics by introducing people to his genuinely insane James Brown BMW short film thing where Gary Oldman plays the devil and is (to the best of my knowledge) where he started using these unhinged techniques.
MAN ON FIRE (2004)
Tony Scott utilized an old hand-cranked film camera built in 1910 to make movie magic. No CGI needed.
DP Paul Cameron built a "merry-go-round" rig that spun Denzel Washington and the camera 360 degrees to create a hyper-kinetic visual effect.
@empress_kiyana 4 ways it can go.
1. Studios commit to the same pipeline and good movies essentially become cultural artifacts.
2. Indie filmmakers consolidate backdoor deals with theaters so everyone gets paid.
3. Widespread unionization to stop ai and get remunerations.
4. The humble nuke.
First trailer for CHAPTER 51, starring Colman Domingo & Abigail Breslin.
• Follows a FBI agent investigating the 3 girls' murder in Hollywood
• The film is shot in multiple formats including hand-held cameras, VistaVision, Ultra Panavision, IMAX & a new anamorphic IMAX format
