As Mary is our mother, so we are her children. As Mary is our queen, so we are her soldiers. Our fealty is with the Queen of Heaven because her fidelity is to her Son, Christ our King.
Permit us to sing your praises, Holy Virgin, and give us strength against your enemies.
Today we commemorate our deceased parents. We thank God for this wonderful gift. Many of us were raised by them in the Christian faith. Indeed, many of us owe them our vocation as members of the Dominican family. We pray God rewards them with eternal peace in His loving presence.
As we look forward to the coming of the Lord, we look to Mother Mary for example & courage. Against all human fear & anxiety, she trusted completely in God & placed herself at His disposal. O Mary, the first & perfect Christian!
A blessed Fourth Sunday of Advent! #DominicansPH
FROM OUR ARCHIVES: On December 8, 1971, Br Aniceto Fernandez OP, Master of the Order, inaugurated the Dominican Province of the Philippines, with Br Rogelio Alarcon OP as first Prior Provincial. The Brothers responded with the venia, expressing humility & obedience. #DominicansPH
Since December 8 fell on a Sunday this year, the #Solemnity of the #ImmaculateConception gave way to the Lord's Day & the Second Sunday of #Advent. We are celebrating it today, December 9, 2024.
O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!

"Prepare the way of the Lord,
make straight his paths.
Every valley shall be filled
and every mountain and hill shall be made low.
The winding roads shall be made straight,
and the rough ways made smooth,
and all flesh shall see the salvation of God."
(From Luke 3:1-6)
In 1971, we were established as the 41st province of the Order of Preachers. After almost 400 years of Dominican ministry in these islands, we are now being sent to minister to others. St Dominic's legacy—the fire of the Gospel—is ablaze in this part of the world. Deo gratias!
Blessed Mannes was an older brother of our holy father, Saint Dominic. Blessed Mannes joined his brother's new Order soon after its foundation, and became an exemplar of humility and sanctity just like Saint Dominic.
Blessed Mannes, pray for us!

Alleluia, alleluia.
I am the living bread that came down from heaven, says the Lord; whoever eats this bread will live forever.
Alleluia, alleluia.

On this day, the 6th of August, 803 years ago in 1221, at the convent in Bologna, our holy father Dominic died and passed over into heavenly glory: Fulfill, O father, what you have promised, and help us by your prayers. #OTD@Dominican_Order

Jesus promised that He is our Good Shepherd. He always will be. We are dear to Him, even if it doesn't always feel like God is nearby. The closer we are to danger, or perhaps to losing faith, the closer Jesus comes. We must call to Him now: our Good Shepherd, save us!
