I would prefer to see the talent level be as high as possible, and that’s possible in the current age ranges. These changes will also drastically dilute junior hockey which is a whole other issue

@RonBaldinger64 @Gausmus47 When you think about it from a maturity standpoint, not everyone is ready to go to college right after graduating high school. They’re going to play hockey but they’re also there to get a degree. Why should a kid be punished for taking 1 or 2 years longer to start?

@RonBaldinger64 @Gausmus47 I agree to an extent. NIL is ruining some of the parity, no doubt, but having these slightly older guys eligible is the best thing we have to counter that issue. For talent, the higher the floor the harder it is to get ahead with NIL. The new rules would lower the talent floor

@RonBaldinger64 @Gausmus47 The beauty of college hockey is that the flexibility in age creates more parity, like I mentioned before. The worst teams have at least a small chance of beating blue bloods. Nobody wants it to turn into football where the divide between the top and bottom is massive.

Forcing kids into college who aren’t ready to compete at the level would only make the divide between the best and worst teams even further. It will for sure make the league slower and less skilled
