Over seventy percent of all Canadian exports go directly into the United States, representing more than thirty percent of Canada's total gross domestic product. If the American border closed for thirty days, Canada would experience immediate financial cardiac arrest. When American trade negotiators adjust tariffs by a single percentage point, provincial premiers across Canada scramble into emergency sessions, the Toronto Stock Exchange convulses, and editorial boards publish panic-stricken essays about national survival. Meanwhile, Canadian imports represent barely one percent of total United States economic output. The entire country of Canada has an economy smaller than Texas, smaller than California, and rapidly getting eclipsed by Florida...
