Ottumwa, Iowa opened its city council meeting with a scheduled invocation from a Satanic Temple of Iowa member: “Dear dark father,” “the luciferian impulse to eat of the tree of knowledge,” and “Hail Satan.”

A local pastor called it a curse.

A council member told him to wait for public comment.

This is not “diversity.”

It is a city government giving a formal platform to a Satanic rite before the Pledge of Allegiance.

The invocation at the Ottumwa city council meeting reportedly ended with the words "Hail Satan."

This is a small town in the heartland, not some coastal college campus.

When a community starts letting the devil lead off its public meetings, something has gone badly wrong with the people running the show.

Ottumwa residents deserve answers about how this got on the agenda and who signed off on it.

Pray for that town today, because they clearly need it more than ever 🙏
