Denae Lee of Monterey named the Gabilan Division's Most Valuable Player in softball. Palma's Kiersten Jara and Hollister freshman Sidney Esparza chosen as Co-Pitchers of the Year.

All four top seeds have first-round byes. Opt outs in the north as well; just not so many of the prominent teams like in south.
CCS Division II softball champion Monterey seeded No. 1 in the State NorCal DIII tournament, and will have a first round bye. It will host the Chowchilla-Chico winner on Thursday at 4 p.m.

Has anyone glanced at Danae Lee's stats? She's hitting .508 for Monterey with 14 homers and 43 RBI. Two-thirds of her hits have gone for extra bases. With 29 walks, the catcher has a .668 on-base percentage.
Danae Lee has tied the single-season record for homers in the county with her 14th, propeling Monterey to a 10-3 win over Burlingame in the CCS DII semifinals. Nicole Seal strikes out eight to pick up the win. Jenna Deese has three hits and scores four runs.
