A desperate cry for help leads deputies straight into a house fire.

Police in Florida arrived on the scene to find thick black smoke pouring from the home, then hear the homeowner screaming from the backyard patio, unable to walk and just feet from the flames.

As one officer pulls him to safety, another grabs a fire extinguisher to keep the fire from spreading until firefighters arrive and fully put out the blaze.

A pilot safely landed a small plane on the sand at Huntington Beach after the aircraft lost engine power shortly after takeoff from John Wayne Airport.

Pilot Mike Bremner, an Orange County resident who works with the nonprofit Elder Abuse Air Force, safely landed the plane on Huntington Beach with his 16-year-old nephew, Griffin, on board, and both escaped without injuries.

Griffin recalled the engine suddenly sputtering mid-flight before his uncle calmly told him, "The engine is failing. We're landing on the beach."

The FAA is investigating what caused the engine failure.
