Can't waaait to go to the @RTS_media gig at ABC tonight to listen to the story of how @HelenTither set up
@FilmsNotWords and the making of this absolute banger of a film! #TheCorinthians https://t.co/D4Jw1dJT6J
New UK Au Pair laws are capping the growth of female-led businesses. I want to scale my business, not downsize. We need a formal "Mentorship & Care Exchange" to help keep mums in business. @SaharHashemiOBE is this on the BWB radar? π
AI efficiency is important. Today, Google is sharing a technical paper detailing our comprehensive methodology for measuring the environmental impact of Gemini inference. We estimate that the median Gemini Apps text prompt uses 0.24 watt-hours of energy (equivalent to watching an average TV for ~nine seconds), and consumes 0.26 milliliters of water (about five drops) β figures that are substantially lower than many public estimates.
At the same time, our AI systems are becoming more efficient through research innovations and software and hardware efficiency improvements. From May 2024 to May 2025, the energy footprint of the median Gemini Apps text prompt dropped by 33x, and the total carbon footprint dropped by 44x, through a combination of model efficiency improvements, machine utilization improvements and additional clean energy procurement, all while delivering higher quality responses.
See the blog or technical paper for more about our methodology and ongoing efforts.

π Thanks for speaking up about this @Liv_Boeree ! I definitely think once AI has been successfully combined with advanced robotics / humanoid robots us small farmers will be in a better position to compete
If they're not allowed to 'join in and help' (in a safe way) that makes life more unpleasant for the whole family unit. More work environments that are kid safe & friendly would be great π It's something we have written into all employee contracts at our farm.
~4 children killed on farms each year in the UK. 198 children (aged 10-17) died by suicide in 2023. 24% of the suicides were linked with social media use (https://t.co/sha5fC42bi). Get kids off social media, not farms.
I think it is satisfying completing a real and useful job whether you're a kid or an adult. Real work experience is incredibly valuable - the key here is making sure risks are managed. Don't prevent kids from accessing the meaningfulness of real work...
@herdyshepherd1 I hope you gave them a good talking to. Packet of mine went on a jaunt to a distant neighbours gated yard to munch their flowers. 11.30pm we got them back! Dog and I still seething.
@BBCCWR suggestion: Make it UK wide law to share the following for EVERYONE charged: Name/nickname, address (area name) portrait photo of their face, height, age, citizenship status and ethnicity, current employment status and primary care giver status (e.g x number of dependants)
Bird surveys all done for the micro wind turbine install! πCan't believe after years of saving and planning we are now so close to getting this turbine installed! It will make enough power for the whole farm and surplus for visitors cars and to sell back to the grid π
Super chuffed with our upland meadow wildflower biodiversity improvement efforts! It's taken almost a decade but looooook π We had orchids too last year but I've not seen any this year so far... (sheepdog for scale/ cuteness)
@HarperSCarroll Aw well here are some Greater Birdsfoot Trefoil wildflowers (and a gate crashing collie 'helping' log flower types) for your newsfeed :)
