Lutnick Tapped to Review Pentagon Deals Tied to His Sons’ Firm’s Client — WTF?

The Pentagon has reportedly tasked Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick with reviewing transactions involving companies connected to Cerberus Capital Management, the firm co-founded by Deputy Secretary of War Steve Feinberg.

Feinberg left Cerberus in March 2025 upon confirmation as U.S. deputy secretary of defense.

Cerberus’s defense investments have included DynCorp, hypersonic testing company Stratolaunch, and military aviation support company M1 Support Services.

The overlap between its investments, former executives, and Pentagon procurement has drawn scrutiny over potential conflicts of interest.

The stated purpose of Lutnick’s review? Additional ethics oversight.

But here’s the connection.

Lutnick previously ran Cantor Fitzgerald, which has longstanding business ties to Cerberus and serves as prime broker for several of its funds.

Who runs Cantor now?

Lutnick’s sons.

So the official reviewing these transactions has a former firm and a family connection with business relationships tied to the company being scrutinized.

Some questions …

What triggered the additional oversight?

Does it cover past contracts or only future transactions?

How are Lutnick’s own connections being addressed?

This is potentially a serious conflict of interest.

Marie Lukas, 32, was a securities broker working on the 103rd floor of the North Tower on September 11, 2001 when Flight 11 was deliberately crashed into her building.

Then she placed a second call, asking along with her terrified colleagues for advice as their office filled with smoke and conditions deteriorated. They asked Frank Lukas if they should break a window to try and get air, he told them no, that sudden draft of oxygen could intensify the fire and engulf them.

Marie's last words to her dad were acknowledging his advice, "OK Dad."

Marie and all of her colleagues were murdered that day by Muslim terrorists Mohamed Atta, Abdulaziz al-Omari, Satam al-Suqami, Wail al-Shehri and Waleed al-Shehri as well as those who planned these barbaric attacks. Never Forget.
