I got to reflect yesterday on how much we achieved as a community, but also how much EA continued to miss the mark
Video games are supposed to be fun, they’re supposed to be your own world, and sadly if you wanna lean into live service, you lose a lot of that in the process
EA thinks we’re stupid. When we could pay you to progress faster, it was okay ✅
Now that we pushed back on your microtransactions, you’re saying we can’t progress faster for free because it compromises the game modes?? 🤣
you are just insulting your player base now @EASPORTSCollege
"Companies have forgotten that we WANT to buy stuff... You don't have to trick us. You don't have to trap us. Make good stuff, and we'll buy it."
—@DanSoder on private equity and why "everything is starting to suck a lot more"
"What EA Sports is doing now is going, 'Hey, f*** playing the game. You want to just give me money?'"
—@DanSoder and @PabloTorre on College Football 27, microtransactions and the "ugly face of capitalism"
We won a battle yesterday, but not the war. There’s a reason I will still never work with @EASPORTSCollege again.
They reference “live service plans in CFB 28 and beyond.” Keep offline game modes pure, as a sandbox experience.
It takes guts to listen to your community and back down. I’m expecting the XP sliders will be back too, but trust will have to be rebuilt over time, not off one decision. #CFBPlayDontPay
EA College Football 27 appears to be review bombed on Steam, with only 22% of reviews being positive
Following YouTuber Bordeaux calling out the company for increased microtransactions and starting #CDFPlayDontPay
Yesterday EA partially responded due to #CFBPlayDontPay, but they did almost nothing. It felt like they were seeing what they could get away with.
However, this shows they’re willing to cave now, but we have to keep making our voices heard
They’re probably thrilled it’s Friday, and hoping this all blows over during the weekend, but it won’t until they give the community what they deserve
Remove microtransactions from single player game modes and put back ALL of the fast XP sliders that were just in CFB 26.
I find it so interesting in old EA titles, as you raise the difficutly in Road to Glory, it would give you less and less XP to increase the challenge
Now they've decided you'll get less XP for wanting to play on an easier difficulty, or without wear and tear on, at the same time they introduce microtransactions to the mode. Coincidence? #CFBPlayDontPay
YouTuber Bordeaux has begun a boycott for College Football 27 and EA for removing old features and drastically increasing microtransactions in the game
#CFBPlayDontPay has now gone viral
EA has completely tarnished the CFB image forever. Used to be a game that had the players in mind. Now they are throwing that away for a quick buck. Only gets worse from here. #CFBPlayDontPay
EA took a fun OFFLINE game mode and is focused on “offsetting gameplay advantages.” Wtf are we doing? 😂 @EASPORTSCollege
Just say you want people to spend money on the micro transactions you added because the gaslighting will NOT work #CFBPlayDontPay
EA’s response misses the mark once again. It is clear they will not budge from microtransactions in RTG and dynasty. Changing the names of the slider settings won’t change the fact the MTX are completely ridiculous in dynasty.
They are also saying they won’t bring back XP sliders in RTG. Of course because you need to be incentivized to spend money.
Disappointing. They are dying on this hill. #CFBPlayDontPay
