My takeaways are:

1. The biggest thing that Jay gave Cole was the attention, Cole got considered for opportunities simply because of the co-sign
2. Cole wasn’t ready to be famous at 24 when he first signed. Jay forced him to develop as an artist first, something that’s missing in today’s day & age.

“He had to have known what this was…Thank God, he didn’t go ‘Oh My God! Let’s take that to radio.’ He probably knew, ‘He needs some more development.’”
