@OldGuyRant2 Rest in Peace @OldGuyRant2 my dear friend. I loved you like a brother, and even like a father at times. You were there for me during some of my darkest times, and always gave the best advice. I’ll always remember you and will always love you.
Remember when MAGAts were spreading the oxymoron that Biden was both a bumbling idiot AND a criminal mastermind? I think we're doing the same thing with Trump. He's NOT a criminal mastermind. A criminal, yes, but a lousy one. No, there are the "whisperers" around him that are causing this damage.
Most obvious is Elon Musk. The richest man in the world and, in his own eyes, the smartest. He certainly is devious. He bought a president that put him in a position to shut down any fines or investigations into his businesses and steer even more SpaceX contracts his way. He (and his teenage goons) has stuck his nose into the federal payment system and the federal personnel database with the help of Secretary or the Treasury Scott "I don't think an increase in the minimum wage is warranted" Bessent.
The other group is more nebulous. The Project 2025 henchmen. I see their fingerprints all over some of the executive orders that were placed in front of Trump to sign (but did not read). They have been able to convince MAGAts that DEI is some kind of quota system that will discriminate against white people, transgender people are attacking the country (all 0.04 percent of the population, and tariffs will bring in so much money that we'll be able to do away with income tax.
His cabinet nominees are very similar to his first attempt at being president: every one feels like the department they have been nominated for is completely broken and has to be torn down and rebuilt. We all know the main characters, but some are flying below radar. Take for example Eric Scott Turner. His dim views of poor people are too long to list here, but here is a link to detail why this guy is not qualified to lead the Housing and Urban Development department:
Trump HUD Pick Scott Turner Has Opposed Efforts to Aid the Poor — ProPublica
And he's not well known and may slip in.
Sorry this is so long. My point is all these problems are not all Trump's fault. He's not smart enough.
Predictions for 2028:
- Not one person who started in a role in Trump’s administration will end in it.
- Trump’s presidency will end in total disgrace.
- Anyone associated with the administration will be politically ruined.
We’ll come back to this tweet in 4 years.
BREAKING: Rep Thomas Massie tells reporters that Republicans will SKIP the confirmation process for Trump’s appointments by calling for early recess.
“He’s your Attorney General. Suck it up,” he says.
Despicable.
He will be elected by one of the narrowest popular vote margins in history, and Democrats will oppose his extreme policies because that’s how democratic republics work. Just as Republicans voted against every single Biden policy.
Matt Gaetz pick is so crazy people have forgotten the Tulsi Gabbard pick which was so crazy people had forgotten about the Pete Hegseth pick. Who knows what tomorrow will bring.
I’m entering hospice today. Will probably update every little if at all. But I wanted to say to be kind, be brave, be principled, be an idealist. Most importantly, be a decent human.
I love that we existed together, in this moment of time.
If Trump is a threat to democracy, as Biden has said, and a fascist, as Harris has said, why is the administration treating this transfer of power as normal?
Pete Hegseth is not remotely qualified to be Secretary of Defense.
The SecDef makes life-and-death decisions daily that impact our 2 million troops around the globe.
This is not an entry-level job for a TV commentator.
The Senate should do its job and deny this nomination.
Palestinian Americans that voted for Trump because they didn’t like the Biden administration’s stance on Palestine will have a rude awakening very soon.
“There is no such thing as the West Bank” - Trump’s new Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee
FYI we don’t need a Department of Government Efficiency. We already have one.
@USGAO - the Government Accountability Office (GAO, est. 1921) - saves $133 for every $1 of funding it receives! If all GAO recommendations were implemented, the financial benefit could be >$200 bil.
Fox News host Pete Hegseth is obviously qualified to be SecDef because he went to Harvard, and also Ivy League schools are worthless liberal indoctrination. Got it.
Dems are like, “we take institutions seriously so we’ll nominate Merrick Garland who will be meticulous and slow so no one will ever suspect him of political bias” and GOP is like “LOL MATT GAETZ AS AG”
Appointing a guy with billions of dollars of government contracts to have this level of control over the government is perhaps the most corrupt thing in the history of the federal government. Indefensible.
