@Hank_Braak@NickKnudsenUS Those damn 18/19 year old pretending to be kids. This is the defense by gun advocates to the fact that gun violence is the leading cause of death for children. They're not even bothering too look at the problem and they're focus is on 18/19 year old not being a kid. They're lost!
@astrometalsky@barbarikon@60Minutes I tend to be more comfortable in the middle ground. I find that too many people, probably most people, take one extreme position or the other. Not necessarily extreme but it's a winner take it all attitude. I don't want any part playing a zero sum game.
@astrometalsky@barbarikon@60Minutes Yes, biology is more complicated than people realise. Male and female are the extreme/opposite ends of sex. But there are times when it's not so clearcut and that's when a person is in the middke or mix of both or they have a different internal and external organs. Complicated
@astrometalsky@barbarikon@60Minutes But that's the complexity of biology. Some women have high levels of testosterone that exceed some men. That's what top sciences struggle with to decide who has an advantage and who doesn't. Remember, that Algerian athlete who was attacked as a trans and called a cheater?
@astrometalsky@barbarikon@60Minutes But you think it's not an issue to change who can be called a parent? You're resistance to change reminds me of the folks on the right who were/are highly opposed to changing the definition of marriage to include gay people. Sometimes I just don't understand some people.
@astrometalsky@barbarikon@60Minutes I think we aware trans women were born biological men and even they know they were born biological men. It's not a denial of how thet born bit rather a recognition that they can't identify with ot and acceptance of the way they wa t yo identify. It's all there. Clear to see.
@astrometalsky@barbarikon@60Minutes Who said further would the same dictirs? There are specialist fixtures who have been doing this for years precisely to avoid a mix up when the biology of an individual isn't clearcut. These doctors have existed fir a long time and it requires a delicate assessment
@astrometalsky@barbarikon@60Minutes I'm not tryptophan to change it. I'm simply pointing the logical flaw in denying Trans people their rights on biological grounds when that doesn't apply in other respects like non-biological parents.
@astrometalsky@barbarikon@60Minutes On trans women playing in women's sports, I'd also be against any sport that involves physical contact. However, I'm opposed to blanket ban & it can just as easily be done case by case. Not every trans women will have physical advantage over women so it requires medical analysis.
@astrometalsky@barbarikon@60Minutes Okay, we're getting somewhere. I'm talking about biology so we liberals aren't stupid abd amti-science. No, we're recognising the social aspect of it and the these people have a fundamental rights to live their lives and society has to accept them.
@astrometalsky@barbarikon@60Minutes Not sure I follow. Parenthood isn't defined simply by biology so I doesn't so why gender has to be either. You don't have to be a biological parent to be a parent and have all the same legal rights. And the same thing applies for gender.
And just like that, Donald Trump gets away with his insurrection. Something that would have never happened in any other democratic country on earth. Astonishing.
Meghan, there was an entire conservative boycott of a beer company because a trans woman was given a can of their beer with her likeness on it to feature on her personal social media.
NEW: Video from 2023 shows Nancy Mace calling herself โpro-transgender rightsโ and saying sheโs supportive of children who โwanna take on a different pronoun or a different gender identity or grow their hair out, or wear a dress or wear pantsโฆโ

In September 1942 she was deported to #Auschwitz. She did not survive.
@finishedfuture @captivedreamer7@atrupar Historians would beg to differ. His legislative accomplishments can objectively testify to how successful he has been. The world's best economy. Manufacturing. Record job numbers. NATO alliance strengthened. Etc

@finishedfuture @captivedreamer7@atrupar Okay, domid you vote for Trump in 2016? He promised tackle this problem. How did he fare? Do you know the number of crossings under him were higher than under Obama's last term? Isn't that a failure? Why does he get a pass for such a massive failure?
@smith_john52820@DubeRandy@swterry911@thehill Oh, I'm watching with bated breath. We know how it's going to play out. I'm interested in the actual outcome of the negotiations instead of all the sabre rattling and big noises. What's Trump's specific goals and what does he think success looks like? We specifics, not blustey.
@smith_john52820@DubeRandy@swterry911@thehill I didn't know you got turn it on off like that. Hmm. How would we know if this sudden switch off by the Mexico president worked or not? Do we nist jer words for it and Trump's team can simply claim victory without showing how effective it is?
