While tens of thousands of Arkansans turned out to support our common sense, people focused message, election results are in and unfortunately our campaign did not carry the day.

It has been my honor to run as the Democratic candidate for Congress here in the Second District. In the course of this election, I’ve heard from thousands of people across Central Arkansas - young people, working families, veterans, seniors, advocates, community leaders - and I’m proud to have served as their voice and champion their concerns. And while this election is over, those concerns remain. So, I encourage Arkansans to demand that elected officials deliver real solutions to those problems. Solutions that reflect their interests, not those of Wall Street or corporate PACs.

I want to take this as an opportunity to thank my remarkable campaign staff and organization. Nobody ever did so much so well with so little - and that’s a testament to our team’s ability, resourcefulness, and grit.

To the hundreds of volunteers and supporters that have given your time, labor, talents, and resources I want to say a special thank you. Your effort and dedication have been the heart of this campaign, and our shared values and vision of progress for Arkansas are a foundation we can build on. Carrie and I appreciate all that you’ve done. Thanks to my fellow Arkansas Democratic candidates for your leadership, service, and dedication - I’m proud to have been in this race with you all. Finally, thank you to my family whose support throughout this race was unwavering. I love you more than words can say.

Yesterday’s results aren’t what we’d worked for or wanted, but that doesn’t mean this is the end. If anything, take it as a call to action, redouble efforts, and VOTE.
