In response to the current recommendations in regards to COVID19, we have cancelled all in person meetups for the time being. We hope to see you all soon.
Our March meetup is just over two weeks away! We are so excited to have three awesome speakers discussing problem identification in projects from three different angles and experiences. Join us on March 25th @WorkNicer. More details and RSVP here: https://t.co/sf3cEVdlbA
๐คHey! Hey!๐ค
We just launched the new Louder Than Ten site. Here's what's new, what's coming up, and a few nerdy details about how we did it: https://t.co/TkRULsBDB5
Oh! Tweet us if you want to present a talk, have a workshop you want to run, a speaker you'd love to hear from or a topic you'd like to see.
And join us (& lots of other PMs and non-PMs) on Digital Edmonton slack space. DM us your email if you'd like us to send you an invite! โ
That's a wrap for our first meetup of 2020! We got to give away:
๐ Food & drink courtesy of sponsors @yellowpencilweb
๐ซ A two month pass from hosts @WorkNicer
๐Tons of knowledge on how to use your past, present and future to plan better projects, thanks to @carsonpierce
We're on "why you don't remember well" and "reasons not to rely on the past"
- recency effect and primacy effect will make you remember the beginning and the end and not the middle
- peak end rule will make you think positively about a whole experience, if the end was good
"There is no past, there is no future, there is only the present that matters."
Bold statement from St Augustine! Explanation - The past is your memory, and something you can do nothing about. The future hasn't happened yet, so the *present* is what you need to worry about.
Another technique to use with backcasting is pre-mortems - thinking about all the things that will prevent you from reaching your goal *at the start*. Giving you a chance to avoid things and mitigate for the that could go wrong
Wednesday? That's today! We kick off the program at 6pm.
That's 20 mins to think of time-travel related puns, jokes and gifs. You all know what a TARDIS is, right?
Looking forward to seeing everyone at this Wednesday's meetup! Free food & drinks, @carsonpierce will be talking about "time travel for project planning," plus all your PM friends will be there. RSVP here: https://t.co/Z8lqRteHL3
