Byron Buxton wants to spend the rest of his career with the #MNTwins, per Bobby Nightengale Jr. of the Star Tribune.
The speculation is now dead. Buxton has no interest in waiving his full no-trade clause and considers Minnesota home for both himself and his family. He also said he's inspired by players like Joe Mauer and Clayton Kershaw, who spent their entire careers with one franchise, and hopes to build that same kind of legacy.
The main takeaway: if the Twins eventually pivot toward another sell-off at the deadline, Buxton is unlikely to be moved. His no-trade clause gives him complete control over that decision.
As the #MNTwins' next wave of talent arrives, having a respected veteran and three-time All-Star like Buxton mentoring the club's young core could be worth even more to the team than what he does on the field. Jenkins, Culpepper, Rodriguez, Lee, Keaschall, Lackey, Houston, and more will be able to learn from one of the best players this team has had.
