Dear Friends,
This week two men prayed with me according to the pattern of Luke 18:13 & Romans 10:9.
The first is a young man working in a materials science startup company in Houston. He graduated from MIT one year ago with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He started coming with some others from this small company. First, he came with them to our home to watch the Super Bowl. Then he started coming to the college lunches. Then he began attending the college Bible studies and the following lunches. I ask him about his upbringing and whether he attended church. He said that he had attended until about age 12, then his entire family stopped going. So I told him, “Next week I would like to sit with you after lunch and explain to you the gospel so you properly understand Christianity.” He said, “I’d like that.’ So we met the following week. I took him through the gospel, and he immediately received. He committed to the daily 15-minute Bible reading each morning, and to the weekly Bible study in Growing in Christ. Chuck Lloyd assigned him a mentor.
The next is an 83-year-old retired physician who had practiced for over 50 years, and he wrote:
Dear Doctor Tour,
You and Dr. Stephen Meyer are my heroes. His books and your YouTube videos combined with the glorious documentary, “The Story of Everything” have changed my life. I have been an agnostic for my entire 83 year old life, not about God, but about Jesus’ resurrection. The evidence of Intelligent Design you two present is so strong that I now envision a series of Miracles leading from the Big Bang to Jesus coming to Earth, with Fine Tuning, the creation of DNA, photosynthesis, the K-T extinction event, the mammalian evolution leading to Homo sapiens as God’s planned preparation for Christ. As a physician with a BA in Chemistry, the evidence is overwhelming, but I am still sceptical about the Resurrection. His body stolen from the tomb by his disciples or by Joseph of Arimethea to “fulfill” the promise of resurrection is a notion I struggle with. My mother was a Methodist choir director and devout Christian and is in heaven waiting for me to get it straight and I am running out of time. Can you help me Dr. Tour?
Blessings,
_____________________, MD
This is a man longing to have the truth about the resurrection explained to him. We met, and one hour later, he was proclaiming the Lordship of Jesus and His resurrection from the dead. After we finished speaking, he explained to me what had put him over the finish line to believe: “The evidence is overwhelming.” Many people have never heard the evidence for the resurrection, and when they do, they are inevitably convinced. This old physician was truly filled with joy. He was finally home, and he knew it. He wrote:
Dear Dr. Tour,
I was blessed beyond measure to be chosen to spend the hour with you yesterday. My life has been changed forever. I have begun my assignment and look forward to meeting my mentor.
Respectfully, ___________________
Acts 16:30, 34 “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”…“He brought them up into his house, and set food before them, and rejoiced greatly, with all his house, having believed in God.”
Acts 13:48 “As the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of God. As many as were ordained to eternal life believed.”
Acts 8:8 When they heard the gospel and believed, “There was great joy in that city.”

Dear Friends,
This week one woman and two men prayed with me according to the pattern of Luke 18:13 & Romans 10:9.
Barbara Lloyd and I met with the woman who had written:
'Subject: The resurrection (obviously)
Dear Dr. James Tour, I’ve just watched the interview you conducted with John Lennox shared on your YouTube channel earlier this month. I’m not an atheist. Rather, I’ve returned to faith in recent years as an adult and find myself wrestling with many questions, the resurrection being perhaps the most bothersome. I would like to connect to hear your thoughts if possible. Kind regards, ____________'
This woman is American, but she lives overseas, and she owns a marketing firm. She was very open and readily accepted the truth of the resurrection, praying the prayer noted above. Evidence and the Spirit work together to bring them into the required belief that Jesus has risen from the dead. She is in discipleship with Barbara Lloyd.
The first man is a German policeman in a major German city. He is in his late 20s, and he went directly into the police academy after high school. So though he is young, he has been a policeman for about a decade, and he looks the part: clean-shaven, tight haircut, direct, and all-business. But open and humble to receive the word. His English is very good. He wrote to me:
'Dear Mr. Tour, for a long time i wanted to find the truth. The problem is, that i only found many discussions and arguments, but could never really come to a conclusion, since none of them were clear, neither for or against belief. My momentary stance is an agnostic one, i am still open for arguments of belief though. I heard, that you are open to talk about arguments regarding belief and the resurrection of Christ. So, i would kindly ask you for a conversation regarding this topic. Thank you very much and -if he exists- Gods blessings. Kind regards from Germany'
This policeman readily received the word of faith, prayed aloud regarding the Lordship and resurrection of Jesus, and was intent on following through with the assignment of daily scripture reading and the 13-week Bible study with Burt Brink. I urged him to read the scriptures daily for 15 minutes in the mornings. I could see a troubled look. Then he said, “I work a rotating shift. Sometimes all night, so the morning is my end of day.” I assured him that we can yield on that: modify the precise reading time so that you can do it before starting your shifts. He was excited to start, and his face was full of joy.
"Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth."
— Luke 15:10
It is interesting. It does not say that the angels are rejoicing. There is joy in the angels’ presence. Might that be Jesus who is rejoicing in the presence of the angels?
The third, a young man in his 20s, just graduated from a large US university and has now returned to S. Korea to complete his mandatory military service. He wrote:
'Hello Dr. James Tour, My name is _________ and I recently graduated from college in biology. I’ve gotten to know you from Tucker Carlson podcast and your debate with Dr. Cronin. I’ve dealt with a lot of spiritual and philosophical questions during college years and I still don’t think I can accept Christianity for the following reasons. 1. How did Virgin Mary give birth to Jesus? Do you believe there is a materialistic mechanism for this or is it more a miracle that can’t be reduced to physics and chemistry? 2. How did Jesus sustain the enzymatic breakdown for three days and come back to life? Similar to Q1, do you believe there is a mechanism or not? 3. How does Christian principles align with biology and evolution? Did God create a single cell? Both prokaryotes and eukaryotes? Did God create human beings specifically, and if so how do we account for other life forms? How do we account for “gray areas” like virus? 4. Are we the only intelligent being in the universe? If so, why is this universe so large compared to the space we occupy? That seems very inefficient. If not, what does it mean we have a personal/special relationship with God? 5. Last but not least, how does your religion affect the way you approach science and/or use science? I’m very interested in biotechnology but I have not yet encountered a satisfying framework that gives me a clear set of values to approach science and technology. I’m curious how Christianity, if at all, gives any coherent guidance as to how we humans can go forward. Of course, for Q1 and 2, I don’t expect you to give me the mechanism of Jesus’s birth and resurrection, but to me those are even less likely than simple abiogenesis model that you strongly argue against (which I agree with by the way) and I’m very curious about your thoughts on this. Thank you so much and I look forward to hearing back from you!'
Brandon, my associate, communicated that the purpose of the meeting with me was to present him with the facts of the resurrection of Jesus, and that questions would be answered only if time remained at the end. I have found that most questions like this are a diversion and fade in importance once salvation is attained. This young man was very open and gladly prayed and received. He is to be mentored by Chuck Lloyd. After I was done, I told him that I would answer three questions for him. I do not even recall what he asked, but they were all easily answered, and none of the three came from the above list. Hence, such a list of questions is indeed a diversion, not what the heart is seeking: a Savior and deliverance from our sinful state.
"For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: But we preach Christ crucified..."

Focus on Jesus and his resurrection, and the extras fade into the background.

Dear Friends,
This week three men prayed with me according to the pattern of Luke 18:13 & Romans 10:9.
The first is a visiting student who is in Houston for the summer, working for an oil company. A professor of his at his home university told him about our lunches. He came and fit right in among the students. So I invited him to attend the Bible study the following week, and then come to the lunch again. He did. So we arranged a time to meet and talk, during which I could share with him evidence for the resurrection. The main challenge was to explain the veracity of the scriptures. We established that, and the testimony for the resurrection was assured. We knelt together, and he prayed aloud in my living room. He is in Bible study with Chuck Lloyd.
The next was a man who wrote the following:
Hello, my name is _________. I have a doctorate in nursing practice with a certification to administer anesthesia. I married my wife 4 years ago, a devout Christian, and my love for her inspired me to review the truth claims of a Bible I had read years prior. Unfortunately, where I was once agnostic, I’ve now become an atheist. I say “unfortunately,” in that I will fully admit that the world and universe would be a better place if the Christian narrative were true, and that my personal life would be greatly improved by being able to share the same faith with my wife. I have since read most of the bible again, investigated the original texts and source materials, I sit with my pastor (as I’m in church every Sunday as well) every quarter; and yet I still find myself as a non-resistant non-believer. I’ve watched several of your videos, mostly regarding abiogenesis and your back and forth with professor Dave. I don’t think its too wild of a statement to make that you seem to be a minority voice in the field of biology on this specific topic. I would love to speak with you, hear your testimony, and see what you have to say regarding why you believe the resurrection is a historical fact. All the best!
A “non-resistant non-believer”. He could not be far from the kingdom of God. We met, and 1 hour later, he was praying aloud according to the texts noted above, that he’s a sinner, thanking God for forgiveness, the Lordship of Jesus, and Jesus’ resurrection from the dead. He’s in Bible study with Chuck Lloyd.
The third was a TV Producer who wrote:
Hello Dr. Tour, I learned about you from watching a clip of John Lennox on YouTube. I have recently come back to the faith I was raised in (Christianity) after 20 years of atheism and have changed my perspective on a ton of objections I once held but the resurrection still gives me tremendous difficulty. I literally just yesterday in my weekly bible study was talking about this with my friends and we were discussing if you can be a Christian if you can’t affirm in your heart the resurrection.
This is one of about eight people who have written to me after watching John Lennox’s mention of me on the Alex O’Connor podcast. Alex O’Connor is an atheist (or agnostic atheist) commentator and critic of Christianity who engages Christian apologetics. He openly identifies as an atheist/agnostic and frequently critiques Christian truth claims, the resurrection, biblical ethics, suffering, and arguments for God. His podcast and debates often put him in direct civil dialogue with Christian apologists. From what I have seen, Alex strikes me less as someone hostile to Christians and more as someone who sincerely believes Christianity is false while remaining genuinely interested in discussing it. Alex has long argued against Christianity, but he appears more measured and open to dialogue now than in his earlier years. He has an enormous online following.
This young producer was also very close to the Kingdom of God, and no trouble convincing him of the truth of the resurrection. He too is assigned to Chuck Lloyd for attaining a mentor.
All three of these men assured me that they would follow through on the daily morning Bible reading program and on the 13-week Bible study with a mentor to be assigned.
“When Jesus saw that he had answered intelligently, He said to him, ‘You are not far from the kingdom of God.’
