A security guard tailed me on my walk home tonight. He demanded if I lived there because “you look suspicious.” I showed my keys & buzzed myself into my building. He left, no apology. This is the reality of black girls: One day you’re called an icon, the next day, a threat.
Self-love is revolutionary. We cannot fight for others when we're fighting a war inside ourselves. Compassion is a power that we first bestow on ourselves & then give away through our actions—to people, to our planet. When we recognize this, that is when love becomes our legacy.
@mishacollins Though not on the same scale, I've been where you are. Sometimes providing the space for dialogue is our role.
Also, if acting ever gets boring, come be a sociology professor with me. We can cause all kinds of havoc together!
@mishacollins Not trying to dismiss anyone letdown by the Supernatural finale but that there is an open dialogue about LGBTQ+ representation is amazing. It wasn't very long ago that LGBTQ+ was "controversial" in my Sociology of Gender courses.
We have so many followers now and it gets rough going through those lists (because lets just say there are people there who are selling something besides Stargate). LOL. If you want us to follow back if you can retweet or like this post it goes so much faster for us to do it.
I feel so very happy for
#TheExpanse#Lucifans
But so dreadfully gutted for us #DarkMatter fans. Why aren't we being heard?
@Netflix
WE ARE STILL HERE. . . WAITING. PLEASE?
Can we please stop justifying ignorance by saying: "Everyone has a right to their opinion." Opinions are like: "I prefer coffee over tea." Not: "I think women / the LGBT community / people of color are sub-human." #SpreadTheWord
